2027: If Atiku & BAT Were To Contest Under Any political Party, Atiku Is Likely To Defeat Him

In a recent interview on Symfoni TV, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed shared his assessment of Nigeria's political landscape ahead of the 2027 general election. During the discussion, he spoke about the political strengths of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while reflecting on how a direct contest between the two politicians might unfold.

During the interview, Baba-Ahmed argued that both Atiku and Tinubu remain among the most influential figures in Nigerian politics due to their extensive experience, national networks, and longstanding involvement in public affairs. However, he maintained that one of the two would likely emerge victorious if they were to compete on an equal political platform.

Speaking on the issue, Baba-Ahmed stated, “2027: If Atiku and BAT were to contest under any political party, Atiku is likely to defeat Tinubu - Baba-Ahmed.” He made the remark while discussing the electoral appeal of both politicians and the factors that could influence the outcome of a future presidential contest.

The Senator representing the Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Austin Akobundu, has said the South East stands to gain significantly if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerges victorious in the next presidential election.

The senator also expressed excitement over the overwhelming support shown by the people, describing it as a demonstration of love, trust, and confidence in the political direction being championed by Atiku and his supporters.

He stated that Atiku remains one of the most experienced politicians in Nigeria, with deep knowledge of governance, national unity, and economic management, all qualities urgently needed to reposition the country.

According to him, the former Vice President understands the challenges facing Nigeria and possesses the political wisdom and national outlook required to restore stability and development across the federation.
