In a commendable display of adherence to constitutional governance and leadership excellence, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has formally notified the Oyo State House of Assembly of his intention to proceed on a one-month leave of absence, effective from Friday, August 29, 2025, to Monday, September 29, 2025.

In line with Section 190(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Governor Makinde has officially handed over the responsibilities of his office to the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, who will serve as Acting Governor during this period.

The announcement was made through a letter transmitted to the State House of Assembly, which was read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, during the plenary session on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

The letter underscores Governor Makinde’s commitment to constitutional order and seamless governance, ensuring continuity in the administration of Oyo State during his absence.

“I hereby transmit that during the period indicated above, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, shall serve as Acting Governor. I shall resume duty upon my return from vacation on Monday, September 29, 2025,” the letter stated in part.
