ME, MY CALLING & MY DESTINY.

*Many are called but few are chosen*

Every child of God is called. The day you got born again, you unknowingly answered a call; a call to citizenship in God's Kingdom, a call to enlist in God's Army, a call to holy living and consecration, a call to join God's family(i.e the church) and a call to labor in the vineyard of the Lord.
Unfortunately,only a few children of God have realized they are called and set apart for the Master's use. Coming to church services and programmes is not service. Even sleeping in church for several days of prayer and fasting is not service. Being deeply religious and self-righteous is not service. Although donating huge amount of money in tithes and offerings is a sacrificial service, it is still not enough to stay aloof from doing other things that make up kingdom service.

Today's message focuses on the Believer's call to service on the Lord's vineyard with emphasis on how to fulfil your call and destiny.

What is a call?

> In a spiritual sense, it is an invitation by God to somebody to come to a place; a divine request for you to do something or go somewhere.
> It begins with *alter call*,which carries the following implications;

1.) Change of direction and movement,
2.) Change of heart and affection,
3.) Change of object of worship(i.e material objects),
4.) Change of subject of worship( from other gods to Jehovah God),
5.) Change of vision( what you are living for and pursuing),
6.) Change of destination( where you are heading in life),
7.) Change of destiny( final arrival place after this life in eternity).

The call of a child of God is the reason why Jesus came to this world; to seperate them as a special elite class. That is why the early church was nicknamed *Ecclesia*, meaning a special Political Assembly.
“ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose”. Rom 8:28.

3 DIMENSIONS OF CALL TO SERVICE;

A.) CALL TO WORSHIP;
The first and primary call of every child of God is a call of worship. The greatest act of service is worship, especially worship proceeding from a broken, contrite and repentant heart. Every deity demands worship, including Satan the god of this world(2 Cor. 4:4). Recall when he came to tempt Jesus in the wilderness, the first he demanded was worship.
- Worship is spending quality time( I'd recommend at least a tithe of your 24hrs/day) with God in private or personal time in prayers“ in psalms and hymns, spiritual songs(Eph.5:9) and meditation,also see Col.3:16.
- Worship is also building an alter lifestyle,improving your life and ways around God's alter with strong passion for communion with God at an alter place, whether a physical or virtual alter( imaginary or invisible mental state of worship).
One of the re-current features of the Old Testament patriarchs was their penchant for building alters in every new location or new level or new encounter/experience. Father Abraham built countless physical alters. King David built virtual alters when he recovered the ARK from the camp of the Philistines at every 6 paces of the journey from Obed-edom's house to the city of David.
“And it was so, that when they that bear the Ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings". (2 Sam.6:13.)
Today, we do not need to erect any phtsical alters before we truly worship God; just erect virtual alters anywhere and anyhow and offer sacrifice of praise and supplication.

B.) CALL TO SACRIFICE;
After erecting an alter with worship, penitence and repentance, the next thing is to offer your sacrifice. Each time alters are erected,animals are slaughtered thereon. Thank God for sacrificing Jesus on the alter of Calvary. We no longer need to shed animal blood because the altimate blood has been shed by God Himself, but we do need to slay tokens and non-bloody substances on the alter to both activate and connect or identify with what happened at Calvary. Alter is the place of slaughter. Be a living sacrifice daily... Rom.12:1.

Please Note;
- Never take to an alter anything not worth the cost of at least “ a pair of turtle doves" (i e. about the price of one chicken) 2 Sam.24:24.
- Never offer anything on an alter with unforgiveness in your heart because it will block your gifts/prayers(Matt.5:26-28).
- Never lie on the alter,because Ananais and Sapphira didn't live to tell the story (Acts 5:1-5).
- Never climb the alter after climbing the bed of immorality or marital treachery as your crown witness of your infidelity(Mal.2:14-16).

C.) CALL TO LABOR(OR VINEYARD WORK);
Besides your donation to church/God's work in cash and kind, God also wants to see you physically involved in the work of missions and ministry,from sweeping His house to building the house, even unto partaking in both urban and rural outreach work. God is not so much interested in your cash as He is in your heart.

VINEYARD WORK involves the following;
- Your time, especially your 'Prime time'. Don't give God your left-over or spent time. If you have a full time call, don't retire from your own career at age 60 years into full time ministry because you no longer have full time or full strenght left at age 60.
- Aggressive Soul Winning;“be instant in season and out of season"(2 Tim.4:5). Soul winning is God's heartbeat. To catch God's uncommon attention and favors, go after souls. If you want answers to prayers you haven't uttered out of your mouth, go after souls. If you want to be wise, go after souls (He that winneth souls is wise- Prov.11:30).
- The more humbling or even humiliating the work you do in God's vineyard, the more God's attention and favor you enjoy. A faithful janitor or toilet cleaner in God's house may earn more favors than the Bishop in charge who feels too big to do certain things in God's vineyard. Remember, Jesus washed the disciples' dirty, weather beaten feet(John 13).
- Selfless service, devoid eye service and not as men-pleasers. What counts in the eyes of men is not what counts in the eyes of God. The Bible says man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the inside(1 Sam.16).
- Quality labor is not about doing things you are asked to do by your pastor or church. It's about going the extra mile all by yourself for God and doing something for the sake of the Kingdom. Jesus puts it plainly;
“And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain"-Matt.5:41.
