Last week, the Managing Director and CEO of the Nigeria Food Corporation,Dr Babagana Mohammed Adam , embarked on a strategic working visit to the Yobe Flour Mills in Potiskum. The visit was part of his ongoing effort to assess food production facilities across the country and strengthen the nation’s food value chain. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by the General Manager and senior staff of the mill, who expressed their appreciation for the corporation’s growing partnership with local producers.
During the tour of the facility, Dr. Babagana Mohammed Adam inspected the production lines, storage units, and quality-control processes that drive the mill’s operations. He engaged with technical teams to understand their challenges, including machinery upgrades, power supply needs, and opportunities for improved grain sourcing. His discussions also focused on scaling production capacity to meet rising consumer demand while ensuring affordability and safety in the flour supply market.
The visit reaffirmed the Nigeria Food Corporation’s commitment to supporting domestic industries and driving food security initiatives nationwide. The Yobe Flour and Feed Mills Company Limited is dedicated to processing grains into flour and producing animal feed. The Damaturu Modern Abattoir serves as a modern meat processing and hygiene facility aimed at improving meat quality, safety, and distribution. It creates employment opportunities while ensuring that meat products meet acceptable health standards for consumers.
The Nigerian Food Company acts as a central processing and distribution hub for various food products. Its role is to ensure efficient packaging, storage, and supply of food items across markets, helping to stabilize food availability and pricing.
The Yobe Wheat Mills focuses on processing wheat into flour and related products. It supports local wheat farmers by providing a ready market for their produce, while also reducing reliance on imported wheat products.
Similarly, the Nguru Oil Mills specializes in the extraction and processing of edible oils from crops such as groundnuts and other oil seeds. This subsidiary contributes to local manufacturing, job creation, and the availability of cooking oil within the region.
