As part of its ongoing commitment to collaborating with key stakeholders in ensuring the provision of quality drinking water, the Ekiti State Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency (EK-WASRA) paid a working visit to the Ekiti State office of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The EK-WASRA delegation, led by its General Manager, Engr. Osalade Ayodele, included the Director of Enforcement and Technical Services, Engr. (Mrs.) Ogunluyi, and Engr. Alake Samuel. They were warmly received by the NAFDAC Ekiti State Coordinator, Mrs. Dosumu S.J., and her team.
During the meeting, both agencies engaged in productive discussions on strengthening regulatory compliance and enforcement strategies to ensure the availability of safe drinking water across the state. Key areas of collaboration identified include monitoring and quality assurance of packaged and processed water, eliminating quackery in the market, and enhancing public awareness of water safety.
Mrs. Dosumu commended EK-WASRA’s commitment to ensuring a safe water supply and reaffirmed NAFDAC’s readiness to support the agency in enforcing relevant regulations. Both parties emphasized the importance of sustained engagement and synergy in safeguarding public health through stringent quality control measures.
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment from EK-WASRA and NAFDAC to deepen their partnership in regulating the water sector and ensuring that residents of Ekiti State have access to safe and hygienic drinking water.

Today, January 28, 2025, the Ekiti State Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency (EK-WASRA) team paid a courtesy visit to the Regional Office of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in Ekiti State. The visit served as a strategic step towards fostering collaboration with critical stakeholders in the shared commitment to ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality water to the people of Ekiti State.
The delegation from EK-WASRA, led by its General Manager, Engr. Osalade Ayodele, emphasized the agency’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with regulatory and standards-setting bodies like SON to uphold global best practices in water quality management. The visit provided an avenue to exchange ideas and explore synergies aimed at achieving sustainable water supply systems that adhere to national and international standards.
During the meeting, the SON Ekiti State Head, Engr Sangosanya T.O. expressed appreciation for EK-WASRA’s proactive approach to stakeholder engagement. The head highlighted SON's role in setting and enforcing standards across industries and reiterated the organization's readiness to collaborate with EK-WASRA in ensuring that water suppliers in Ekiti State meet regulatory requirements.
Discussions during the visit revolved around joint initiatives such as capacity building for water providers, staff, routine monitoring, testing of water quality, accreditation of Laboratory and awareness campaigns to educate the public on the importance of clean and safe water. Both parties agreed on the need to strengthen enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance with water quality standards and promote accountability among service providers.
This visit marks the beginning of a promising partnership between EK-WASRA and SON, which is expected to significantly enhance water governance and improve access to safe drinking water across Ekiti State. The collaboration underscores a shared vision of safeguarding public health through the provision of clean and reliable water services.
As the visit concluded, both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to working together to address challenges in the water and sanitation sector, ensuring that every citizen of Ekiti State has access to safe water that meets the highest standards.

Engr. Alake Samuel of EK-WASRA has been awarded the 2024 Outstanding Officer Award by EKSG.
Engr. Alake Samuel, Director of Technical Service and Inspection at the Ekiti State Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency (EK-WASRA), has received the 2024 Outstanding Officer Award from the Ekiti State Government (EKSG).
The award was presented today as part of the 2024 Public Service Week celebration in Ekiti State.
It was presented by His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti State.
Congratulations to the entire Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU) family and the recipient, Engr. Alake Samuel.
Represented the Ekiti State Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency (EK-WASRA), Nigeria, as a member today, 27th September 2024, during the ratification of the Eastern and Southern Africa Water and Sanitation (ESAWAS) Regulators Association constitution in Blantyre, Malawi.
