*** EKIRS Sets New Revenue Target After Record-Breaking IGR Performance

The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS), Mr. Olaniran Olatona, has declared that the Service is targeting a monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N3 billion before the end of 2026.

He made the declaration following EKIRS’ record-breaking revenue performance of 2.74 billion naira in April, the highest monthly IGR ever recorded in the history of Ekiti State.

Speaking during the Service’s June monthly prayer meeting held on Monday, where he delivered a charge titled; “Fighting the Number One Enemy of Success,” the EKIRS Chairman stressed that the achievement should not breed complacency, but rather inspire greater commitment to excellence.

According to him, the 2.74 billion naira milestone is not the destination for the Service, but a challenge to achieve even more without placing additional financial pressure on taxpayers and residents of the state.

Describing complacency as the greatest obstacle to success, Mr. Olatona urged members of staff to avoid attitudes and actions capable of undermining the vision and objectives of the organisation.

Mr. Olatona, who noted that limitation can only come from one's thinking, cautioned against complacency, laziness, procrastination, excessive comfort, and self-satisfaction in both professional and personal pursuits.

The EKIRS Chairman further encouraged staff members to embrace tenacity, determination, diligence, ambition, and a continuous desire for improvement, stressing that such qualities are essential for sustaining the Service’s growth and contributing meaningfully to its overall success.

The Director, New Growth Areas and Other Taxes, Mrs. Sade Daramola, who led the prayer session, supplicated for the continued progress of EKIRS and its leadership.

She also offered prayers for a peaceful, free and orderly atmosphere before, during and after the June 20 Ekiti Governorship Election. Mrs. Daramola further committed Nigeria into God's hands, praying for divine intervention in the nation's security challenges, the exposure of criminal elements, and the safe release of victims currently held in captivity by kidnappers.

*** Eid-el-Kabir: EKIRS Chairman Commends Taxpayers for Driving Ekiti’s Development

The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS), Mr. Olaniran Olatona, has commended taxpayers in Ekiti for their unwavering commitment and sacrifices toward the development of the state through the fulfillment of their tax obligations.

Mr. Olatona gave the commendation in his Eid-el-Kabir message to the Muslim faithful in Ekiti State on Wednesday, in a statement made available by the Head of Communications and Liaison, EKIRS, Ayomiposi Ayedun.

The EKIRS Chairman noted that the sacrifices made by the people of Ekiti reflect their deep love, patriotism, and commitment to the progress and prosperity of the state. He added that the impactful programmes and projects being executed by the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji have further strengthened public confidence and made tax compliance more effective.

Mr. Olatona urged residents to sustain their support for Governor Oyebanji’s administration to enable the government to continue delivering meaningful dividends of democracy across the state.

Reflecting on the significance of Eid-el-Kabir, he said the festival serves as a reminder of the lasting values exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, including faith, obedience, selflessness, compassion, and the willingness to make sacrifices in pursuit of noble causes despite daunting challenges.

He called on Muslims to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria’s economic prosperity, lasting peace across troubled regions of the country, and the timely freedom of victims currently held in kidnappers’ captivities.

Mr. Olatona also urged Muslims to celebrate the festive season with moderation and responsibility, advising all residents to remain vigilant in the face of recent security concerns in neighbouring states and as Ekiti prepares for the June 20 governorship election.
