It was a proud moment to join His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Her Excellency Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, World Bank representatives, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Peju Babafemi, Chief of Staff Mr. Niyi Adebayo, and other stakeholders at the flag-off of the Nigeria for Women Programme – Scale Up (NFWP-SU) and the disbursement of the Community Investment Fund to Women Affinity Groups in Ekiti State.
This vital partnership between the Ekiti State Government and the World Bank has empowered over 25,000 women, with more than ₦2.1 billion disbursed to 1,395 groups to grow their businesses and improve livelihoods.
The programme strongly supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and the Oyebanji Administration’s vision share prosperity and making women key drivers of economic growth. Stronger women mean stronger families and communities.
We remain committed to advancing financial inclusion and entrepreneurship. I urge beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to expand their enterprises and contribute to our state’s progress.
My deep appreciation goes to the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, the World Bank, the Ekiti State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, traditional institutions, and all partners for making this impactful programme possible.

NCSU Honours Oyebanji as Governor of the Year, Commends Ekiti’s Workers’ Welfare Policies

The Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) honoured the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, with the best performing Governor of the Year Award in recognition of his commitment to workers’ welfare, civil service reforms, and people centred governance.
The award was presented by the National President of the NCSU, Comrade Oluwole Adeleye Sunday JB, during the Union’s National Executive Council meeting held at Green Minds Hotel, Abuja.
The event attracted all the NEC and NAC members from the 36 states of the Federation as well as labour leaders, civil servants, and key stakeholders .
Presenting the award, Comrade Adeleye described Governor Oyebanji as a compassionate and responsive leader whose administration has transformed the welfare and dignity of civil servants in Ekiti State through sincerity, dialogue, and consistent support for the workers
He praised the Governor for implementing worker friendly policies, ensuring prompt payment of salaries,pensions and gratuities while, sustaining industrial peace, and prioritising the welfare of workers and retirees in the state.
According to him, the approval of GL 15 status for Executive officers in the state civil service reflected the Governor’s commitment to fairness, career progression, and professional growth within the public service.
The NCSU President also commended the Ekiti State Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, for maintaining stability, cooperation, and professionalism within the civil service, noting that her leadership has contributed immensely to the cordial relationship between government and labour unions in the state.
Labour leaders at the event described Ekiti State as a model for labour relations and civil service administration in Nigeria, stressing that the state has maintained peaceful industrial relations through dialogue, mutual respect, and continuous engagement with workers.
They noted that workers in Ekiti State now enjoy regular payment of salaries ,prompt implementation of promotion benefits, housing and car loan schemes, and regular remittance of pension deductions under the Contributory Pension Scheme.
The union further disclosed that the Oyebanji administration had released over N6 billion naira for the settlement of gratuities and retirement benefits of retirees at the state level while also sustaining monthly releases of N250 million for the payment of outstanding gratuities of retirees.

Representing Governor Oyebanji at the event, the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, thanked the leadership and members of the union for the recognition accorded the Governor .
She stated that the award reflected the confidence workers across Nigeria have in Governor Oyebanji’s leadership and commitment to civil service reforms.
Dr. Olomojobi reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, professionalism, merit based appointments, and transparent labour relations, adding that the Governor consistently encourages negotiations and dialogue on matters affecting workers.
According to her, the Governor remains committed to improving the working conditions of civil servants and ensuring that the public service in Ekiti State remains professional and productive. Other dignitaries at the event were Comrade Kayode Fatomiluyi, SSA on Labou matters,Pharmacist Olatunde Kolapo,NLC Chairman,Ekiti state among others.
The event concluded with goodwill messages, commendations from labour leaders across Nigeria, and renewed calls for continued support for workers’ welfare and sustainable civil service reforms across the country.

Ekiti Hosts Town Planners, Advocates Digital Technology for Improved Physical Planning

The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has called on town planning professionals across Nigeria to embrace digital technology as a critical tool for enhancing physical planning services and promoting sustainable urban development.
Governor Oyebanji made the call on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic and Convention Centre while declaring open the 27th Edition of the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCPDP) organised jointly by the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) and the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria (TOPREC).
The Governor, who was represented by the Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, said the programme's theme, Application of Digital Technology for Enhanced Physical Planning Services in Nigeria, was timely and necessary in view of the increasing demands of urbanisation and sustainable development.
According to him, technologies such as Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Artificial Intelligence, Building Information Modeling, drones and e-governance platforms are transforming the way cities are planned and managed.
Governor Oyebanji stressed that effective physical planning remains central to economic prosperity and orderly development, adding that his administration has undertaken strategic infrastructure projects including the Ado-Ekiti Bus Terminal, the Ado-Ekiti Cargo Airport, the Iworoko/Ago-Aduloju Ring Road, the Oke-Iyinmi to Ijigbo Flyover, and the ongoing redevelopment of the Atikankan area.
He also disclosed that the state government is digitising its land administration system to accelerate building approvals, enhance transparency and strengthen disaster preparedness through predictive technologies.
Earlier in his welcome address, Chairman of the 2026 MCPDP, Dr. Osunsanmi Gbolabo, said the programme was designed to equip participants with cutting-edge digital tools and practical skills in e-governance, geodesign, spatial analysis and planning report generation.
Dr. Gbolabo described the adoption of digital technology in physical planning as an imperative rather than a luxury, stressing that the future of the profession depends on practitioners who are prepared to embrace innovation and serve the public with integrity and excellence.
He commended the Ekiti State Government for its support and hospitality and encouraged participants to engage actively, share experiences and build lasting professional networks.
Dignitaries at the event included the Asaya of Asaya Kingdom, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, former Commissioner for Information, Culture, Sports, and Social Development in Ekiti State, Hon. Kayode Otitoju, former Ekiti State Commissioner for Housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Development Hon. Remi Olorunleke, retired Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Adeola Johnson, and other distinguished guests.
The two-day programme attracted town planners, scholars, policymakers, consultants and development partners from across Nigeria to deliberate on innovative approaches to strengthening physical planning practice and improving urban development nationwide.

Ekiti Appoints Ojo Idowu Oluwabolaji as 5th Auditor-General

The Ekiti State Government has appointed Mr. Ojo Idowu Oluwabolaji, FCNA, as the fifth Auditor-General of the state.

The appointment, which took effect on May 8, 2026, follows the retirement of the immediate past Auditor-General, Mr Oluwole Adeuya, who exited the state public service upon attaining the statutory retirement age.

Mr Adeuya, an indigene of Ido-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area, was appointed Auditor-General in 2020 by former Governor Kayode Fayemi and served meritoriously throughout his tenure.

The appointment of Mr Oluwabolaji is expected to further strengthen fiscal oversight, transparency and accountability in the management of Ekiti State's public finances.
