AKPOHA SON TO PRESENT PhD RESEARCH AT UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC CONFERENCE

A proud moment for Akpoha, Ebonyi State, and the Igbo intellectual community! 👏🏽🇳🇬

AKPOHA LAND is delighted to announce that one of our own has been selected to present a paper at the 19th University of Lagos Annual Research Conference & Fair, holding from October 14–16, 2026, at the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

The research paper, titled “Phronesis and Ako-na-Uche: Reconceptualising Intelligence for Human-Centred AI Governance and Innovation in Africa,” is listed under Abstract Number LAC-26-272 and scheduled for presentation today, Friday, October 16, 2026.

The paper represents the first part of the scholar’s PhD research and explores how African indigenous philosophy, particularly the Igbo concept of Ako-na-Uche, can contribute to ethical artificial intelligence, responsible innovation, and human-centred governance.

The conference brings together distinguished scholars and academic leaders from across the globe, providing a platform for intellectual exchange and the advancement of knowledge.

This achievement is a powerful reminder that Igbo wisdom and African intellectual traditions have a place in shaping the future of global technology and innovation. It is a moment of pride for our people and an inspiration to the younger generation to pursue knowledge, research, and excellence.

He is Emenike Christopher Ogbuagu.
The stage calls him Crizem.
He is Kerekere, Eeba Dugudugu.
From Akpoha as of origin, to the entire world as of possession.

Before him, Akpoha was scarcely perceived or visible across the social media landscape. It was chiefly AkpohaIgbo, in her masquerade, Taagoogogoo, that commanded attention, alongside the parochial criticism of politicians. Then came Crizem, with a vision that would carry his homeland beyond the boundaries of familiar recognition.

With his phone, his laptop, his British accent, his writings and his drawings, he has transported Akpoha's sons and daughters, great and small, across rivers, oceans and continents. Neither the ocean breeze nor the fiercest hurricanes can arrest the onward passage of his digital footprints. Akpoha is visible now, present and unmistakable in the vast theatre of social media.

His mode is protean, his presence remarkably adaptable. He weeps with those who mourn, rejoices with those who celebrate and designs for those who campaign, yet remains unbiased and uninjured by the passions of the moment. In his versatility lies a rare art: to participate in the lives of many without surrendering the independence of his own spirit.

Today, the people of Akpoha celebrate the birthday of this remarkable son whose digital presence has carried their name beyond familiar shores. Let people of goodwill shower him with love, call him, send him gifts, celebrate his journey and encourage his vision. For a man who carries the name of his homeland across the world deserves, on his special day, to feel the warmth of the very people he represents.
