This move was aimed at achieving optimum operational efficiency as well as realizing the full life span of the machinery that was given to the farmers. Hence, the idea of establishing AMMOTRAC came into focus. AMMOTRAC, AKURE, ONDO STATE of NIGERIA was established in the year 1988. The center initially took care of trainees from all the State of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. In 1992, AMMOTRAC, Misau Bauchi State of Nigeria was equally established to take care of trainees from the Northern State of Nigeria while AMMOTRAC Akure, Ondo State of Nigeria handle the training programmes of all the Southern State of Nigeria . AMMOTRAC AKure is situated at kilometer 9 along Akure-Ado Ekiti Road, Ilado-Odudu Village in Akure, Ondo State. While AMMOTRAC Misau has its location along Kari-Kano raod in Misau, Bauchi State. OUR OBJECTIVES:

(i) Train agricultural mechanics and machinery operators on the technique of operation, maintenance and repair of agricultural machines and equipment. (ii) Train personnel on the techniques of operation and maintenance of animal traction equipment as well as management of work animals. (iii) Train agricultural mechanics and machinery operators on the technique of operation, maintenance and repair of agricultural land development, bush clearing and forestry machine and equipment. (iv) Train personnel on the operation and maintenance of food storage machine and equipment
(v) Train personnel on the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of agro-processing and machinery for grain crop, root crops, oil crops e.t.c
(vi) Train personnel on the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of irrigation equipment. (vii) Train personnel on the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of livestock and fishery production equipment. Brief analyses of activities are as follows:

Training and manpower development
Shortage of skilled manpower is a crucial problem that hinders the industrial development in Nigeria. For this reason, AMMOTRAC Akure Attaches considerable importance to training in its annual plans. The center is also bless with a team of well experienced Agricultural Engineers and Technical Officers saddled with the responsibility of impacting knowledge and skill to our invited participants during training. AMMOTRAC is fully equipped with a team of well experienced training officers, the need special skill within cannot be overemphasized. In our continues effort to meet our customer’s needs, a selective crop of experts are invited from time to time to inject complementary experiences and practical insights into our training and research activities. Such experts are drawn from University research institute the private sector and most especially from the pool of highly experienced retired Agricultural Engineers across the nation. Besides its being cost effective, the exchange of idea between our center and these associate generates a balanced and unique approach needed for improved mechanization training and practices in the Country. AMMOTRAC TRANING PROGRAMME

AMMOTRAC will achieve its objectives through the following training programmes:

(1) Short-Term Training Programme: it is short duration training which will not be more than two weeks duration. The participant will be drawn from states Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development Projects, River Basin Development Authorities, National Agricultural Land Development Authorities as well as private mechanized farm in all the Southern State of Nigeria. It is however designed for experienced Agricultural Machinery Operation and Mechanics in such establishments. (2) On-the-Sport Training Programme: it is a training programme that is carried out on the field of operation at different locations. This will be carried out through the use of well-equipped Mobile Workshop manned by skilled technical personnel. They will visit large mechanized government and private farms where they will conduct on the spot training and correct common mistakes that might be observed during the trip. (3) Train the Trainers Training Programme: it involve training of trainer of various establishments. Trainers for this programme will be drawn from existing Agricultural institutions and large scale mechanized government and private farms. The aim of this programme is for the trainers from such institution to acquire new skill and refresh their knowledge through AMMOTRAC’S programme and to be able to transfer same skill and knowledge to trainees and personnel in their various establishments. (4) Long Term Training Programme: This is a long duration training programme it is a programme that will commerce when AMMOTRAC is fully established. It will draw participant from the student with equivalent of JSS certificates holder as well as students with equivalent of JSS certificates. It will be organized in separate classes for agricultural machinery operators and mechanics respectively. The duration of the programme will be two years for mechanics and one year for operators respectively. At the completion of the course, the graduants will be awarded government grade II and III trade certificates. Training Scope :

5. Irrigation pump operation, maintenance and repairs
