This landmark initiative, championed by the Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, underscores the commitment of the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to decentralize Diaspora affairs and ensure that every local government benefits directly from global partnerships, development opportunities, and community-driven interventions.

The newly established Diaspora Focal Desks will serve as grassroots liaison points, enabling smoother communication, enhanced data gathering, coordinated outreach, and more effective mobilization of Diaspora-led initiatives.

Through this structure, Ondo State indigenes across the world will experience a more responsive, accessible, and community-centered engagement system.

AKINLOSOTU COMMENDS GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA’S STEADY STRIDES IN SECURITY: MAKING ONDO STATE A SAFE HAVEN FOR INVESTORS

The Hon. Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his firm, progressive and result-oriented commitment to enhancing the security architecture of Ondo State, a commitment that continues to position the state as one of the safest destinations for investors and economic expansion.

Security is the foundation of development, no economy thrives where uncertainty dwells and no investor seeks ground where instability reigns. Today in Ondo State, the story is shifting remarkably under the Governor’s bold and intentional leadership. With strategic reforms and sustained investments in security infrastructure, the state is fast becoming a model of peace, stability and investor confidence.

Governor Aiyedatiwa’s approach is not reactive, it is structured, forward-driven and deeply focused on strengthening both conventional and community-based policing. His administration has intensified logistics support to security formations, improved intelligence capacity across all LGA clusters, and modernized surveillance and response frameworks to ensure swift action when necessary.

A major milestone acknowledged and applauded by Otunba Akinlosotu is the "Governor’s recent approval for the recruitment of 500 additional officers into the Amotekun Corps". This bold step expands manpower and operational strength, widens security coverage, and fortifies the shield around communities, farms, business corridors and infrastructural assets. With this reinforcement, Amotekun is better equipped to prevent, intercept and neutralize threats before they escalate.

Furthermore, the administration’s multi-agency collaboration, involving the Police, Army, DSS, NSCDC, traditional rulers, vigilante groups and local security networks has created a unified defence system rooted in intelligence, partnership and proactive intervention. A safer environment means thriving agribusiness, open routes for commerce, investor-friendly communities and an economy primed for sustainable growth.

For investors, security is assurance and Ondo State is increasingly delivering that assurance. Under Governor Aiyedatiwa, development is not left to chance, it is being built intentionally on a foundation of peace, protection and preparedness.

Governor Aiyedatiwa is not just securing today, he is fortifying the future. With the expansion of Amotekun personnel, stronger intelligence networks, and a unified security system that commands confidence, Ondo State is no longer just safe, it is open for opportunity, for investment, for prosperity.

As Otunba Akinlosotu commends, Ondo is now a state where investors don’t just come, they stay, they build, they thrive. The message is clear and compelling:

Security is assured.
Investment is protected.
Growth is inevitable.

Ondo State is rising, safe, stable and strategically positioned as the new investment frontier in Nigeria.

This renewed commitment follows the formal constitution of the Ondo Diaspora Smart City Technical Committee by the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. The Technical Committee, chaired by the Honourable Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, comprises Permanent Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries of the Ministries of Infrastructure; Lands and Housing; Environment; Commerce and Industry; Physical Planning and Urban Development; Information and Orientation; Justice; Culture and Tourism; and Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, as well as the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA).

Addressing members during their inaugural meeting in Akure, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu lauded Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, and approval of the Smart City initiative.

According to Akinlosotu, the Diaspora Smart City project aligns perfectly with the Aiyedatiwa administration’s “OUR EASE" Agenda, which is designed to provide a conducive environment for residents, investors, and Nigerians in the Diaspora to live, work, and contribute meaningfully to the State’s socio-economic transformation.

He emphasized that the Smart City project would yield multiple benefits, including increased tourism, job creation, foreign investment inflow, and a significant boost to the State’s internally generated revenue (IGR).

“The constitution of this technical committee once again demonstrates Mr. Governor’s determination to harness the immense potential of our Diaspora community for the growth of Ondo State. The Smart City initiative will not only attract Diaspora investment but will also promote innovation, green infrastructure, and redefine urban living in our State,” Akinlosotu stated.

Giving an overview of the project, the Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Mr. Olakunle Ajibade, explained that the initiative had been in development since 2024 and represents a bold step toward a more inclusive, technology-driven, and environmentally responsible urban future.

Also speaking, the Administrative Secretary of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), Mr. Emmanuel Omomowo, underscored the need for continuous reassessment of the project’s business model and greater private sector involvement to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.

It seeks to attract global partnerships, promote knowledge transfer, and position Ondo State as a leading hub for the digital economy and modern urban development in Nigeria.

Partner Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) represented at the inaugural meeting included the Ministries of Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Environment, Commerce and Industry, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Information and Orientation, Justice, Finance, Culture and Tourism, as well as ONDIPA.
