The Chairman, Ondo State Wealth Creation Agency, Mrs Bolanle Olafunmiloye has reiterated the determination of the Dr. Olusegun Mimiko to exploit all avenues to create employment opportunities for the youth in the state through agriculture with a view to creating wealth for themselves, raised their standard of living and become employers of labour.

Mrs Olafunmiloye, who stated this during a 3-day Agric Business Plan Development Training for some selected 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 batches of Profarmers Agropreneurs organized by the Agency in collaboration with 3t Global Enterprise Consult which was held in Akure, the State Capital, said the training is imperative to increasing their knowledge in the drawing of business plan in a coherent manner that will be attractive to interested investors and sponsors.

She explained that the training exercise will not only give them additional skill on writing good agric business plan but will further enhance their skill to design a strategy to fastrack means to achieving their target.

The Chairman, who decried the rate of unemployment and cost of high living in the Country, however, expressed optimum that the trend will soon become a thing of the past in Ondo State with numerous wealth creation programs initiated by the state government.

Mrs Olafunmiloye revealed that government has provided training in various techniques under the Agency and GIS program, she therefore charged them to take the training seriously in order to achieve the desire purpose.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer, 3t Global Enterprise Consult, Mr Babs Olaluwoye explained that the aims and objectives of the training are, to help them established clear objective of their agric business, access the viability of their agric business wether the business will make an acceptable profit and meet standard requirements, identify the market for their business and establish the scale of demand for their products and services, established the capital required to start and operate their agric business and the key factors they need to take into consideration in the deciding how to finance their business among others.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Ondo State Government with the State Chapter of Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) would not only boost the agricultural sector of the State but create employment for the teeming youths and also increase the revenue generation for the State.

The Chairman of the State Wealth Creation Agency, Mrs Bolanle Olafunmiloye who made the submission during an inspection tour of Epe Agro Business City noted that the MOU will assist in feeding the 1000 daily capacity chicken processing factory established by the State government which had started supplying the general public with its products, stressing that the factory products are free of any harzadious chemical preservation.

Olafunmiloye added that the chicken processing factory will also feed both local and international market, increase government revenue as well as reduce the post harvest losses that usually characterized the products of poultry farmers.

She commended the commitment of Governor Olusegun Mimiko for prioritising agriculture by providing the desired anabling environment and incentives that had raised the interest of the youth, groups and corporate bodies to venture into agriculture.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of PAN, Hon. Kunle Oyekunle, who accompanied the Chairman on the tour described the MOU signed with the State government as a right step towards revolutionizing poultry production in the State, adding that about ten thousand (10,000) day old chicken have been purchased for the purpose of implementing the first phase of the MOU.

Ondo State Government has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Ondo State Chapter and Third National FADAMA Development Project, toward the development of Poultry production and Cassava cultivation in the State.

This is in line with the policy of the present administration under the leadership of Dr.Olusegun Mimiko to partner with reputable, committed and responsible Organizations, Groups, Corporate bodies and individuals to boost food production, developed the agricultural sector and change the mindset of the youth toward agriculture by encouraging them in modern system of farming.

Signing the memoranda at the conference room of the Agency in Akure the State Capital on behalf of the State Government, the Chairman of the State Wealth Creation Agency (WECA ), Mrs Bolanle Olafunmiloye described agriculture as a sector that can provide massive employment opportunities for the youth through it value chain, stressed the importance of collaboration to move the sector forward.

Mrs Olafunmiloye explained that the present administration established four Agro Business Cities across the State with modern facilities to serve as incubation and training centres for the youth to learn agriculture best practices.

Speaking on the value chain addition initiative of the present government, she said the Agency has established a number of agro allied industries for processing among which are 1000 daily capacity chicken Processing plant at Akure with supporting facilities, which now process chicken at commercial scale and cassava processing plant at Ore Agro Business City.

While signing the MOU with Poultry Association of Nigeria, Mrs Olafunmiloye explained that poultry production is wide and critical to the economy that should be developed and harnessed to create job opportunities for the youth, generate revenue to the government as against millions of naira being spent on importation of poultry products from other countries.

She noted that to achieve this, there should be collaborative effort between the government and other stakeholders in the sector.

Signing another MOU with the Third FADAMA development Project, the Chairman commended the State government for prompt payment of its counterpart fund which has helped to impact positively on the lives of the youth in the area of agriculture development.

She reiterated the determination of the state government to continue to partner with organizations that will assist the government to unlocking the potentials in agricultural sector of the economy.

The State Chairman of Poultry Association of Nigeria, Hon. Festus Oyekunle and the team leader of FASAMA project, Mrs Jumoke Bakare expressed their happiness to partner with state government on the agricultural development with a view to creating the interest of the youth in agricultural value chain with the purpose of becoming self employed and creating wealth for themselves.

The terms of Memoranda of Understanding with the two organizations includes among others, production, marketing and distribution of poultry products within and outside the State, production of cassava in cluster farming arrangement, provision of poultry infrastructure, materials and feed for poultry products, production marketing and distribution of cassava products within and outside the state, capacity building and technical training of existing and new Profarmers.

The Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has reaffirmed that the Wealth Creation Agency(WECA) established by his administration is to revolutionize the agriculture profession and make it more attractive to the youth with a view to reducing unemployment in the State.
Dr. Mimiko, who was represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture Pastor Olusegun Ayerin stated this today while declaring open a one week induction training of 100 newly engaged Profarmers /Agropreneurs, said this is another milestone in his administration's effort geared towards generating employment and wealth creation for the people.
According a to him, poverty has drastically been reduced through the empowerment programme of the Agency which has made many of the youths self reliant, self employed and employers of Labour.
"This administration is bequeathing to the State a legacy of zero tolerance for poverty whereby unemployed youths are mopped up from our streets through empowerment programmes so as to make them self reliant, self employed and ultimately employers of labour".
He noted that the agricultural sector in the state is being given new impetus through the Agency and its Agro Business Cities located in the three Senatorial District of the State, saying that the partnership of the State with renowned International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and other organizations had exposed the youth to the best practices in agriculture and agric business, thereby creating a new generation of agric entrepreneurs that can compete anywhere in the world.
Speaking on the value addition initiative of his administration, the Governor said the Agency had facilitated the establishment of a number of agro allied industries for processing, among which are 1000 capacity daily Chicken Processing Plant with supporting facilities, which now process chicken at commercial scale to big markets within and outside the State.
He further noted that the cassava processing factory under construction at Ore ABC had become another value addition initiative of his administration, adding that the Cocoa revolution project is on-going while the newly constructed mechanised abattoir will soon be commissioned.
He commended the management and staff of the Agency, International agro business partners and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector for supporting his administration's drive at eradicating poverty, generating employment and wealth creation for the teeming youths in the State.
In her speech, the Chairman of Wealth Creation Agency, Mrs Bolanle Olafunmiloye lauded the vision of Governor Mimiko for establishing the Agency at the begining of his administration to reactivate the economy development of the state with the mandate to develop a new crop of young professional farmers and entrepreneurs that will use agriculture as a tool for wealth creation.
Mrs Olafunmiloye, who noted that the 100 newly engaged young graduates constitute the 4th set of Profarmers / Agropreneurs to be trained, said 1000 youths were engaged in 2011, 280 graduates in 2014 while 120 were engaged in 1015, adding that the newly engaged youths are to be trained to use agriculture as transformational tool to enhance food production, produce raw materials for industries and create wealth in the state.
She explained that trained youths from the four Agro Business Cities across the State have started producing many wealth creating and quality agricultural products among which are Adiye (Chicken) WECA, from poultry section, Eja (Fish) WECA from aquaculture section, Agbado (Maize) WECA and Ege (cassava) WECA from arable crop section while Gari WECA and Eyin ( egg) WECA will soon be part of products of the Agency.
Speaking at the occasion, the stakeholders in the agricultural sector both within and outside the State commended initiative of Mimiko administration for making agriculture a means of employment generation, wealth creation and alternative source of revenue for the state at this time of dwindling oil revenue.
Representative of organizations that attended the ceremony include International Institute of Tropical Agriculture ( IITA), FADAMA, Agricultural Development Program (ADP) State Ministry of Agriculture among others.
