REPORT OF FRIDAY 7-02-2025 CDS ACTIVITY IN AMASSOMA.

CORP MEMBERS IN AMASSOMA CARRIED OUT GENERAL CDS UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL CDS GROUP TAGGED *’OPERATION CLEAN AMASSOMA MARKET’.*

After corps members have converged as usual at the Southern Ijaw Zonal Secretariat for their CDS activity, the CLO, Odumosu, Joy Aduragbemi as at 9:00am instructed for the singing of the NYSC anthem. The CLO called the morning attendance and informed the corps members about the days activity which is to clean the Amassoma market and carry out Sensitization.

The corps members thereafter proceeded to the market with banners and speakers to clean up and also sensitize the market men and women.

Sensitization was done by a member of environmental the CDS group on importance of environmental hygiene which includes some diseases free environment, customer attraction and safe environment.The market men and women commended the corps members for their unwavering effort in cleaning the host community and also making sure the knowledge on the needs for a clean environment is passed.

The corps members thereafter proceed to the Amassoma round about and cleaned the vicinity.

After the exercise,the corps members reconvened and a light refreshment was given.

Final attendance was taken by the CDS President and the event was closed at 12:00pm.

REPORT ON NYSC SOUTHERN IJAW LGA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICE OUTREACH(UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE EDUCATION CDS GROUP) HELD AT GOVERNMENT SECONDARY SCHOOL, AMASSOMA

On Friday,6th December, 2024, various Community Development Service(CDS) groups in Amassoma operating under the umbrella of the Education CDS group conducted an educational outreach at Government Secondary School, Amassoma to enlighten students on "The Power of Time Management" for Junior classes and "The Importance of Financial Literacy" for Senior classes. We arrived at the school by 9:30 AM and commenced the program by 10:00 AM with the opening prayer said by the Director of Socials, Amara Madu.

Each CDS groups were assigned to respective classes to teach. They delivered interactive presentations on the importance of effective time management and financial literacy skills for students. The sessions aimed to equip the students with essential life skills to enhance their academic performance and future success.

Following the presentations, we organized a quiz competition involving students from JSS1 to SSS3. The CDS president, Victor Emeh anchored the quiz competition. The quiz tested the students' understanding of the topics covered and encouraged teamwork and healthy competition. The competition started at 11:00 AM, and we concluded the program with the announcement of the winners. To foster a culture of academic excellence, prizes were awarded to winners and participants, comprising essential educational materials such as exercise books, biros, and mathematical sets, as well as bottled water, to motivate them to strive for academic success.

The outreach was a huge success, and we received positive feedback from the students and school administrators. NYSC Southern Ijaw CDS groups is committed to continuing such initiatives to promote education and empowerment among young minds.

REPORT OF ACTIVITIES HELD ON FRIDAY, 22-11-2024.

The meeting commenced by 9:00am with the recitation of the national anthem, directed by the CDS President Victor Emeh.Morning attendance of corps members present was taken.There after the president made announcements on
Girl Child initiative general outreach to be carried out upcoming week.
He urged various CDS group coordinators to submit the names of their keynote speakers and the topics they will talk on.

Corp members were released for their usual community development service and asked to reconvene by 10:30am.

After the corps members reconvened, the president made an announcement on the proposal format for personal community development service project. He said the proposal should be in the format thus:

Cover page(Name, statecode and Place of primary assignment).
Letter
Introduction
Project (s) title and respective site(s).
Aim and objectives of the project(s).
Beneficiaries of the project
Cost estimate - expenditure for the project.
Source of funding
Project duration (Time period to carryout the project).
Commissioning date (not applicable for non capital intensive projects).

REPORT OF ACTIVITIES HELD ON FRIDAY, 08/11/2024.

The meeting commenced by 9:00am.

The CDS President Victor Emeh, made the following announcements:
- Payment for BATCH C PROJECT to be paid by BATCHES A1,A2 and B1 for those yet to pay.

- New Corps Members due to be paid by all batches for those yet to pay.

- Payment of monthly dues to respective CDS Groups coordinators for those yet to pay.
- ⁠Plan ongoing for general CDS outreach captioned Healthcare,Blood Glucose,Blood pressure,Menstrual health(Girl Child initiative) to share sanitary pads for females Age 11 and above.
He also emphasized on personal CDS project.

The Corps Members were released for their CDS activity at 9:13 am and asked to reconvene by 11:00am.

The Local Government Inspector, Mr Nimiworio Sambo arrived after the Corps members reconvened and the national anthem was sung.

The L.G.I asked the various CDS group coordinators to talk about their CDS activity carried out that day and their action plan also.

The Health and PET CDS Group Coordinator, Yakubu Harrison spoke about the activities they carried out and the next on their agenda. He said the group sensitized the market men and women and shop owners on High blood pressure.

The L.G.I added there will be a plan to carryout Highblood pressure and Blood Glucose test at Angiama community.

Second talk was given by the SDG Coordinator, Emmanuel Chikaodili. He talked on installation of recycling bin at two points in Niger Delta University.
He however stated that the other one is not properly utilized and plan is ongoing to sensitize the students to use it properly or shift it to another location.
He added that the group will source for funds to be able to buy more recycling bins and to generate money also.

Third talk was given by the Agro Allied CDS group coordinator, Gagu Clara Ababy. She said the group went ino the Niger Delta University to get soil and subsequently they will plant Pepper and fluted pumpkin,take it to the market and carry out sensitization. She added that they also plan to sell it.

The Local Government Inspector, suggested that they should contact the market leader before carrying out the sensitization and also ensure that they have pictorial evidence of the whole process from the planting to germinating to harvesting.

The environmental CDS group coordinator, MacDonald Felix was the fourth to speak.He said the group cleaned surroundings of the Niger Delta University bakery.
He added that they cleaned the Amassoma round about which is the first contact of every persons coming to Amassoma community.

The L.G.I suggested that a project be carried out which involve installation of refuse dumpsite at strategic points. He added that a general sensitization on environmental cleanliness be carried out by all Corps members.

The L.G.I extends the message of the Zonal Inspector on the need for Corps members to propose personal projects based on felt needs of the community and source for funding externally.

The address by the CDS group coordinators continued.The fifth talk was given by the Digital Life 4All(Digital Literacy )group coordinator, Omorinsola. She said the group sensitized the market men and women on how to use their mobile phones to browse and use bank apps such as Opay.

The sixth address was given by the Education CDS group coordinator, Victor Emeh. He said the group sensitized the market men and women on customer relationship,using the 5Es strategies thus:Entice,Enter,Engage,Exit and Extend.

The L.G.I finally address corps members on general conduct and charged to behave well at all times.Emphasis was also made on proper dressing by corps members during official functions and events. He concluded by saying that no corps member should travel without the approval by the state coordinator.

REPORT OF ACTIVITIES THAT HELD ON FRIDAY 01-11-2024 AT SOUTHERN IJAW ZONAL SECRETARIAT.

The meeting commenced by 8:00am.

The C.D.S President addressed the Corps Members about late coming for clearance and C.D.S activities.He also emphasized on improper dressing by Corp Members and encouraged them to dress properly on-line with the dress code approved by the National Youth Service Corps.He also notified the corps members to submit their clearance forms early,atleast a day to the clearance day in order not to burden his work.

The arrival of the Local Government Inspector was announced by the Corps Liason officer and the NYSC anthem was sung.

The L.G.I addressed the Corps Members concerning the following:

Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development.He encouraged that corps members who are yet to engage themselves in any skill aquisition should endeavor to do so.He emphasized that the encouragement is in-line with the Skill acquisition and Entrepreneurship development program by the NYSC to prepare Corp Members to be self reliant during and after their service year.

Community Development Service (C.D.S activities)He obliged corps members to carryout their community development service diligently, emphasizing that the it's a core criteria for clearance of corps members.

Conduct.
The LGI emphasized that Corp Members should conduct themselves rightfully at all times.He stated that NO corps member should travel without approval by the state coordinator.

Federal Character and Competence:
Corps members were also addressed on working together with their fellow Corps members who occupy executives positions.He also stated that competence is a criteria in addition to federal character,which is based on the region from where the corps members come from.

Digital Life 4 All (DL4All).C.D.S Group. The members of the CDS group were addressed.Eight(8) out of ten (10) members were present.

Announcement of newly appointed executives.The newly appointed executives were announced by the LGI. The following were appointed:

The executives were charged to perform their duties diligently.

Mr Sambo concluded by advising other Corp Members to respect the executives and vice versa;emphasizing that we are all equal and respect is reciprocal.

The meeting ended and the monthly clearance of corps members for the month of November was done by the L.G.I according to their Batches.

Report of the Job Awareness Creation for Batch B Stream 2 Corps Members and Monthly biometric clearance in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Amassoma, on July 8th, 2024

In preparation for the winding-up activities of the 2023 Batch B Stream 2 corps members, the Job Awareness Creation (JAC) program was held on the 8th of July, 2024, at the Zonal Head Office, Amassoma.

The corps members in Southern Ijaw convened at the Zonal Head Office, Amassoma, at exactly 9:00 am, beginning with the recitation of the NYSC anthem, led by Mr. Reginald Fechukwu Onyenwe, CLO & CDS President. In attendance was the Local Government Inspector (LGI), Mr. Nimi Sambo, who initiated the program by acknowledging the presence of the guest speaker, Dr. Joseph. The LGI then invited Dr. Joseph to the podium.

Dr. Joseph, the guest speaker, addressed the corps members regarding the final phase of winding up and passing out. He emphasized the importance of applying the skills acquired during the NYSC period in their future endeavors. Dr. Joseph also advised graduates to develop an entrepreneurial spirit and ensure that there is a strong relationship between their business ideas and their areas of discipline.

Afterward, the LGI appreciated Dr. Joseph’s words of wisdom and golden advice, encouraging corps members to heed the advice, engage in legal business activities, and be cautious of "fast money" schemes, both physical and online.

Following the lectures, questions were asked and answered by the resource persons. There were also skills exhibitions where corps members presented various skills, such as tailoring, bag making, snacks, and cosmetology, that they had acquired during their period of service.

The program concluded with the recitation of the NYSC anthem at exactly 12:35 pm.

Afterward, the monthly biometrics clearance for July commenced, conducted by the Local Government Inspector, Mr. Nimiworio Sambo, for those eligible.

Report of the Community Development Service (CDS) of Corps Members in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area on the 5th of July, 2024.

Friday, July 5th, 2024, marked the first Community Development Service (CDS) for the month of July. The program commenced at exactly 9:00 am with the recitation of the NYSC anthem, and then attendance was taken by the CDS President, Mr. Reginald Fechukwu Onyenwe. As is the tradition for every first CDS day of the month, the president released corps members to go for their monthly deliberations, admonish in the CDS groups to undergo deliberations which aligns with the groups' objectives. He also mentioned that the deliberations wouldn't just be for the month, but for the activities to be carried out in the third quarter of the year.

Each CDS group, led by their coordinators, engaged in deliberations to plan and strategize methods for enhancing the value of their respective CDS activities for the month of July and the third quarter of the year. The agenda was for members of each group to collaborate effectively and prioritize projects that would have a meaningful impact on the community.

After the deliberations, all groups assembled for an inter-group debate. The Environmental Protection and Sanitation group competed against the Education CDS group, and the Agro-Allied group competed against the Health and Pets CDS group, on the topic of "*Which group has had more impact on the community* ". At the end of the debate, the Environmental Protection and Sanitation group won against the Education CDS group, and the Agro-Allied CDS group won against the Health and PET CDS group.

The President encouraged corps members to tune in to the radio station program and to engage on the page.

The program concluded with the recitation of the NYSC anthem.

Report of the Community Development Service (CDS) of Corps Members in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area for 28th June 2024

The program was initiated by the CDS President, Mr. Reginald Fechukwu Onyenwe, with all corps members converging at Unity Corpers Lodge at 8:30 am. The event began with the recitation of the NYSC anthem, followed by attendance.

A General CDS Sports Day was held to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and camaraderie among corps members. The event was held at the Niger Delta University Field and included a variety of sports activities. The event began with a welcome address by the President who announced the event will be a competition among CDS groups and encouraged corps members to participate. The program began with a warmup session, then athletics, volleyball, table tennis, and board games competition took place in order.

At the end of the activities, the president announced the results and declared the Environmental Protection and Sanitation CDS group the winner. The president commended the efforts of all who participated in the competition.

In concluding the program, The president encouraged corps members to undergo personal projects for the community.
The program concluded at 12:36 pm with the recitation of the NYSC anthem.

Report of the Community Development Service (CDS) of Corps Members in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area on Friday, 21st June 2024

A Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Sensitization replaced our regular CDS activities.

The program commenced at 9:00 am with the recitation of the NYSC anthem, initiated by the Local Government Inspector, Mr Nimiworio Sambo. Following the anthem, the LGI, introduced the guests to the corps members.

The Local Government Inspector, acknowledged the presence of the NYSC SAED Assistant Director of the Bayelsa chapter, Sir Raymond Anumaka Kennedy, and the trainers of various skill sets. He then invited the Assistant Director of SAED to give the keynote address.

The Assistant Director began by acknowledging the presence of the officials and trainers and commending the LGI and his team for their excellent work. He addressed the corps members on the importance of the SAED initiative and encouraged them to utilize the opportunity by engaging in the training sessions. Afterwards, Mr Oscar, who anchored the program, invited the trainers, one after the other, who introduced themselves and the various skill-sets, such as ICT, Agro-allied, Cosmetology, Leatherwork, and Personal and Professional Capacity Building. Then interested corps members proceeded to register for the various training programs.

In rounding up the program, the Corps Liaison Officer (CLO) of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area (SILGA), Mr. Reginald Onyenwe, delivered a vote of thanks. Subsequently, corps members took photographs with the officials and guests, then attendance was taken.

The program concluded at 1:20 pm with the recitation of the NYSC anthem.

REPORT OF THE JOB AWARENESS CREATION FOR BATCH B STREAM 1 CORPS MEMBERS IN SOUTHERN IJAW LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, AMASSOMA. FOR MAY 31ST 2024.

In preparation for the winding up activities of the 2023 Batch B stream 1 corps members, the Job Awareness Creation program took place on the 31st of May 2024, at the Zonal Head Office, Amasomma.

The JAC program started at exactly 9:30 am, initiated by Mr. Oscar with the recitation of the NYSC anthem. In attendance were the Local Government Inspector (LGI) Mr. Nimi Sambo, Mr. Oscar, and three resource persons present, to lecture the Batch B1 corps members.

With applause, Mr. Oscar welcomed the Local Government Inspector (LGI) to the stage to deliver the program's opening speech.

The Resource persons, Dr. Joseph and Mr. Otiko Prince, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the corps members who are concluding their service.

Dr. Joseph's address highlighted the methodical journey of Batch B1 through the NYSC's cardinals stages: the initial orientation camp exercise, the subsequent engagement at the primary place of assignment (PPA), the community development service (CDS), culminating in the passing out parade exercise.

As the corps members approach the final phase of winding up and passing out, he emphasized the importance of applying the skills acquired during the NYSC period in their future endeavors.

The First speaker, Mr. Joseph in his address, refreshed the minds of all present about the SAED program which though under-rated, yet has solved numerous unemployment problems thus bringing about self-employment.
Still speaking, he advised that graduates should develop an entrepreneurial spirit as well as consciously ensure that there’s a keen relationship between their business idea and area of discipline.

Mr. Otiko Prince, one of the resource persons enlightened the corps members involved on the relevance of taking skill acquisition seriously because it’s a weapon to fight against the various frustrations that results from unemployment.

He encouraged corps members to consciously acquire knowledge, social capital, experiential capital, passion, and creativity which will give them a competitive advantage regardless of the field or area they want to delve into in life.

He also advised corps members to develop an entrepreneurial mindset as it is the solution to the economic problem of the country today.

At the end of the lectures, questions were asked and responded to by the resource persons.

Thereafter there were skills set exhibitions where corps presented different skills like hairdressing, barbing, processing and preservation, cosmetology, etc. they acquired during their period of Service.

The Corps Liaison Officer (CLO) Waate Nuzor Kpugbara, expressed her gratitude to the resource persons, the LGI, Mr. Oscar, and Mr. Beleke for making the JAC program a huge success. The LGI also appreciated his quest for venerating the invitation.

He went further to recap all that SAED entails, encouraging everyone to strive towards a better life.

The program ended with the rendition of the NYSC anthem.

REPORT OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICE (CDS) OF CORPS MEMBERS IN SOUTHERN IJAW LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA FOR 30TH MAY, 2024.

Presided by the community development service (CDS) president, Mr. Reginald Fechukwu Onyenwe.

The program began right at 9:05 am with the recitation of the NYSC anthem followed by a brief address from the president.

In his address, Mr. Onyenwe extended a warm welcome and expressed his gratitude to all corps members present. He announced that the day's agenda included a general sanitation exercise, which was part of the scheme initiative.

The exercise aimed not only at refuse collection but also at educating the community about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and avoiding littering.

Thereafter, Ms. Waate Nuzor Kpugbara, the Corps Liaison Officer (CLO), took the opportunity to discuss the forthcoming Batch project.

She highlighted the significant impact it would have and urged corps members to comply actively.

She also provided instructions regarding the completion of clearance forms and welcomed Mr. Nimi Sambo, the Local Government Inspector, LGI upon his arrival.

Mr. Nimi Sambo greeted all corps members and reiterated the importance of the sanitation exercise.

He informed Batch B stream 1 of the upcoming Job Awareness Creation (JAC) event, scheduled for May 31, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the Zonal Secretariat in Amassoma.

He emphasized the necessity of a proper dress code for the JAC program, stating that inappropriate dressing would not be tolerated. He encouraged those who had acquired skills to showcase their products attractively at the event and advised those without skills to pursue skill acquisition for self-sufficiency and independence, given the scarcity of traditional employment opportunities. Mr. Nimi Sambo motivated the corps members to strive positively as they serve the community.

The LGI instructed that corps members should be shared into groups for the sanitation to make the exercise easier and faster after which all headed out for the sanitation and sensitization exercise.

Following the LGI’s instructions, the corps members were divided into groups to facilitate an efficient and swift sanitation process.

The exercise was successfully conducted, and upon its conclusion, he commended all participants for their active involvement and collaboration, which significantly contributed to the environmental and communal betterment.

The meeting concluded at 12:05 PM with a second rendition of the NYSC anthem.

REPORT OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICE (CDS) OF CORPS MEMBERS IN SOUTHERN IJAW LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA FOR 24TH MAY 2024.

The program was initiated by the CDS president Mr. Reginald Fechukwu Onyenwe at 9:00 am prompt with the recitation of the NYSC anthem after which attendance was taken.

The president commended corps members for keeping up on time and always dressed appropriately for every official gathering and dismissed all groups for their community development service activities to demonstrate our commitment to community development.

The Sustainable Developmental Goals CDS group informed the community on eliminating all forms of domestic violence against children, advising that parents should put a stop to all forms of child abuse. Like verbal abuse, and using objects to scar the child for discipline's sake, parents should stop fighting in the presence of their children as it affects them mentally.

The Education Development group went to the community primary school, where they enlightened the pupils on music, and the influence that music could have on a child, and made them understand the importance of listening to good music and leveraging it to learning.

Environmental Protection and Sanitation group. carried out their activities at the Amassoma motor park. Maintaining the outlook of the park, and educating drivers and passengers on the effect of maintaining a clean environment.

The Health and PETs CDS group enlightened market people about ulcers, their causes, prevention, and management of the sickness.

The Agro-Allied CDS group carried out planting activities of vegetable crops, pepper, and others.
At about 10:45 am, all groups returned from their various community development function.

Afterward, the president welcomed a Corp Member, Lazarus, Nemieboka Thompson, who shared knowledge on social engineering, its dangers, and how to prevent them. The lecture was interesting and as well engaging.

Furthermore, the president announced an upcoming sport community development activities (CDS) to unite core members and indigenes of the community.

The program came to an end at exactly noon with the recitation of the NYSC anthem.
