7 Years of Impactful Leadership. Happy Anniversary, Your Excellency

Indeed, education has been a top priority in your administration.

You settled outstanding examination debts and continued to pay for external examinations, easing the financial burden on parents. You championed the construction of new schools, renovation of existing ones, and increased budgetary funding for education. You provided additional safe, conducive learning environments.

So far, under the AGILE project alone, over 280 schools have been renovated. There has also been continuous capacity building for teachers, and so much more.

We in the education sector cannot thank you enough. Thank you for putting education first.

On behalf of the management and staff of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, we say: Happy 7th Anniversary to our Education-Friendly Governor, His Excellency Senator Bala Mohammed, CON.

From Classroom to Court: Bauchi Education Ministry Backs GGC’s Rise in Sports and Academics

The Government Girls College GGC Bauchi has commended the Bauchi State Ministry of Education for its sustained interventions, as the school’s basketball team presented trophies and prize money won at the 2026 Nestlé Milo Basketball Championship in Kano.

The presentation was made to the State Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, at the ministry’s headquarters in Bauchi.

Speaking during the event, the Games Mistress of GGC Bauchi, Mrs. Mary Jika, appealed to the ministry to employ a dedicated basketball coach and rehabilitate the school’s sporting facilities, particularly the basketball court. She noted that the current court is not conducive for practice and training, while the team’s coach was sourced from the State Sports Council.

“With the right support, our students can excel in all aspects of sports and bring more laurels to the state,” Mrs. Jika said.

In her remarks, the Principal of GGC Bauchi, Hajiya Hadiza Ibrahim, appreciated the commissioner and the ministry for a series of interventions since assuming office. These include repairs of stolen window glaziers at the dormitory, rehabilitation of parts of the perimeter fence, and restoration of electricity.

Hajiya Hadiza also highlighted the school’s recent achievements since 2022. These include 2nd place in the 2024 and 1st place in the 2025 President’s Inter-School Debate Nigeria, 2nd in cap making and 3rd in tie-and-dye at inter-school competitions, fabrication of a wind turbine fan by students, and overall best in the 2024 Arts and Culture Competition.

Responding, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim acknowledged the role of unity colleges in promoting unity, tolerance, and togetherness. He urged students to embrace discipline and obedience to constituted authorities to become better leaders in the future.

The commissioner reaffirmed that educational delivery remains the top priority of the Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration. He assured that the ministry would continue to provide funds to address the immediate needs of schools to guarantee improved learning outcomes.

Also speaking, the Coach of the Male and Female Basketball Teams, Theresa Samuel, and the team captains, Evan Chukwu Ebuka and Perpetual Akata, thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents.

The Deputy Director of Sports in the ministry, Bala Maijama’a, told Radio Nigeria that the competition involved ten Savannah states: Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara. Bauchi State secured 2nd place in the female basketball category, 6th in the male category, 3rd in cultural display, and won ₦250,000 in prize money.
