Demystifying Randomized Control Trials (RCTs): Step-by-step Guide to Understanding and Writing an RCT for publication

Module 1 – Overview of RCTs
(1hour; 9:00 - 10:00am)

Module 2 – Understanding RCTs (Key features of RCTs, bias in RCTs, how RCT design minimizes bias, CONSORT diagram)
(2hour; 10:00am – 12noon)

Break (1 hour: 12 - 1pm)

Module 3 – Conducting an RCTs (Trial registration, recruiting participants, sample size calculation, randomization, allocation concealment, blinding, informed consent, information sheet, ethics, baseline assessments, intervention and follow up)
(1hour 30mins; 1:00 – 2:30pm)

Break (30mins; 2:30 – 3:00pm)

Module 4 – Writing an RCT for publication (Choice of journal, CONSORT structure, drafting introduction, methods, results and discussion sections, referencing, abstract, academic writing tips)

Module 4 – Writing a Systematic Review for publication (PRISMA checklist, PRISMA flowchart, drafting introduction, methods, results and discussion sections, abstract, referencing, academic writing tips)
