STRENGTHENING LEADERSHIP, DEEPENING SERVICE DELIVERY

On Monday, 19 October 2026, I inaugurated Barr. Uche Mbaeke as Secretary to Enugu East Local Government, reaffirming our commitment to strengthening the administrative and operational structures of the Council as we consolidate the gains of our first tenure and advance our development agenda.

I also inaugurated Hon. Paul Edeh as Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Council. Their continued service builds on the experience and institutional knowledge gained during our first tenure, providing a foundation for sustained progress in the administration of the Council.

As I emphasised during the ceremony, governance is a collective responsibility. Just as the roots, branches and leaves of a tree perform different but complementary functions to enable it to bear fruit, every member of our team has a distinct role to play in delivering on our commitments to the people. No contribution is insignificant when we work together towards a common goal.

I therefore urge all Council staff and political appointees to remain diligent, professional and committed to their respective duties. Through teamwork, mutual support and a shared sense of purpose, we will continue to strengthen our institutions, improve service delivery and build on the progress already recorded.

Congratulations once again to Barr. Uche Mbaeke and Hon. Paul Edeh on their respective appointments. I look forward to their continued dedication, integrity and commitment to the effective administration of Enugu East LGA.

A NEW CHAPTER IN LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE

Today, we inaugurated the 11th Enugu East Legislative Council, marking another important milestone in our administration’s journey and the beginning of a new chapter in our collective commitment to serving the people.

I commend the 10th Legislative Council for its contributions to our development agenda, particularly the legislative foundations it laid for policies and programmes that continue to guide our administration. Their work reminds us that meaningful development requires not only vision and commitment but also strong institutions and effective collaboration.

To the newly inaugurated councillors, led by Hon. Engr. Ezeugwu Williams Ebuka, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. Your emergence comes with an important responsibility to represent your constituents faithfully, make purposeful laws and work collectively in the interest of our people.

As we advance into the next phase of our administration, I look forward to a stronger partnership between the Executive and Legislative Arms. Together, we must build on the progress already made, deepen our investment in human capital and pursue policies that translate into tangible improvements in the lives of our people.

Leadership is ultimately about service, and our shared responsibility remains clear: to keep working for a more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous Enugu East.

SUPPORTING CLEANER, HEALTHIER SMART GREEN SCHOOLS

Yesterday, we provided cleaning and sanitation equipment to all 17 Smart Green Schools in Enugu East LGA, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the Enugu State Government’s investment in education under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The items, which include waste bins, mops, buckets, brooms, detergents, soap and other essential cleaning materials, will help strengthen routine sanitation, promote proper waste disposal and support the maintenance of clean, safe and conducive learning environments for our children.

This intervention builds on our earlier procurement of a water van to support water supply to the schools. We believe that investing in education goes beyond classroom infrastructure; it also means supporting the essential facilities and conditions that enable our children to learn, grow and thrive.

As I have always maintained, our commitment to supporting the Smart Green Schools is just beginning. Through our Human Capital Development Fund, we will continue to explore ways to sustain our support for this important initiative.

I commend our Smart Governor for his vision for education in Enugu State and appreciate the SPA to the Governor on Education Innovation Dr. Chinyere Onyeisi, the school administrators and everyone working to advance the Smart Green Schools programme. I also urge the principals and coordinators to ensure that the equipment are put to effective use.

Together, we are building a healthier learning environment and investing in a greater tomorrow for our children.

A RENEWED MANDATE, A RENEWED COMMITMENT TO SERVICE

Yesterday, at the Enugu State Government House, I was inaugurated for a second term in office as the Executive Chairman of Enugu East LGA, alongside my Deputy, Engr. Kingsley Obi Anike, to continue the service we have rendered to our people.

I sincerely thank the good people of Enugu East LGA for once again reaffirming their trust and confidence in us through this renewed mandate. We deeply appreciate this confidence, and I assure you that we will not relent in serving you. Rather, we are reinforcing our commitment to service, and you should expect more.

I wish to specially appreciate the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his leadership, which has continued to transform Enugu State and provide direction for us at the Local Government level.

As the Governor reminded us yesterday, the major intention of his administration is to build the tomorrow’s people today. This is a vision we remain committed to, particularly through our Human Capital Development drive, while also continuing to attend to the areas that make life better for our people and make Enugu East a better place to live, work and thrive.

As we begin this new chapter, we will build on the foundation already laid, sustain what is working, improve where necessary, and continue to serve our people with humility and dedication.

Our commitment remains to making Enugu East a model of an inclusive, livable and sustainable city.

The journey continues. There is more to do, and you should expect more.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, NIGERIA @ 66

Today, we celebrate 66 years of our nation’s independence—a journey that has been shaped by courage, resilience, sacrifice, challenges, progress and an enduring hope for a better Nigeria.

Independence is not only a moment to look back at how far we have come; it is also an opportunity to reflect on the Nigeria we desire to build for generations to come. Our diversity remains one of our greatest strengths, and our people continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience, creativity and determination in the face of challenges.

As we celebrate this important milestone, we must continue to believe in Nigeria, support one another and play our part in building a nation where every citizen can find opportunity, live with dignity and look to the future with hope. The responsibility of building the Nigeria of our dreams belongs to all of us.

For me, this Independence Day is even more meaningful because it comes at a time when the good people of Enugu East have once again entrusted me with the responsibility of serving them for another term. I am deeply grateful for this renewed mandate and for the confidence you have reposed in me.

As we begin this new chapter, we will continue to build on the foundation already laid, strengthen what is working, improve where necessary and keep our people at the centre of our service. With God on our side and the continued support of Ndi Enugu East, I am confident that there is still much more to accomplish together.

I sincerely appreciate our working Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his support and for creating an enabling environment for Local Governments to contribute meaningfully to the development of our people and communities.

As Nigeria looks ahead to another chapter, so do we in Enugu East. With faith, unity and a shared commitment to service, we will continue to work towards the Greater Tomorrow we desire.

Earlier today, I received my Certificate of Return from the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), having been re-elected for a second term as the Executive Chairman of Enugu East LGA.

I sincerely appreciate my people, the good people of Enugu East LGA, for their trust, support and mandate. I do not take this confidence for granted, and I assure you that we will continue to do more for the betterment and development of Enugu East LGA.

I also sincerely appreciate our working Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for providing us at the Local Government with a conducive environment to drive programmes and projects that transform the lives of our people and contribute to the development of our communities.

This renewed mandate is a call to greater service and responsibility. We will continue to serve with humility, dedication and a strong commitment to delivering meaningful development to our people.
