Today, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Engr Ben Osy Okoh, visited the Enugu Tech Hub project site for a comprehensive project review meeting with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy & MSMEs and Director-General, Enugu SME Center, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, the project contractor, Pazim Engineering Limited, and the project supervising team from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

The team had productive discussions on the progress of the project, reviewed the outstanding milestones, and agreed on the critical activities required to ensure timely completion. The Commissioner was pleased with the level of commitment demonstrated by all stakeholders and their shared determination to deliver this important project to the highest standards of quality.

Construction is progressing steadily, and the team is working diligently towards achieving the target of completing the project by the end of this month.

The Enugu Tech Hub is a strategic investment in the future of the state. Upon completion, it will serve as a catalyst for innovation, digital skills development, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven economic growth, while creating opportunities for the young people to acquire future-ready skills and thrive in the digital economy.

This project is another demonstration of the commitment of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to building the digital infrastructure and innovation ecosystem required to position Enugu as a leading destination for technology, enterprise, investment, and sustainable economic growth.

Today, we visited the recently awarded Eke Obinagu–Obodo Nike–Umuode–Oruku–Aguikpa–Amaechi Idodo Road (18.23 km) to assess the level of progress on the project.

We are pleased with the pace of work by the contractor. Construction is progressing satisfactorily, with over 3.3 km of drainage already completed from the Amaechi Idodo axis, alongside substantial earthworks. We are equally pleased that drainage construction and earthworks have also commenced from the Eke Obinagu axis, ensuring that work progresses simultaneously from both ends of the corridor. This is an encouraging start and reflects our commitment to ensuring that contractors mobilise promptly and deliver projects in line with approved specifications and timelines.

Upon completion, this strategic road will connect seamlessly with the recently completed 14.3 km Amaechi Idodo–Amagunze Road, creating a continuous transport corridor that will significantly enhance the movement of people, goods, and agricultural produce, stimulate economic activities, and unlock the vast socio-economic potential of the communities along the route.

On our way back, we stopped at the New Enugu City, where piling works have commenced for the iconic 30-floor Twin Tower, a landmark development that will redefine the city's skyline. Construction is also progressing on the first 1,000 housing units, while work continues steadily on the 100 km network of secondary and tertiary roads under Phase 1A, which will provide the critical internal connectivity required for this world-class smart city. It is inspiring to witness the vision for the New Enugu City steadily becoming a reality.

We also stopped by the ongoing construction of the New Haven road network, where work is progressing simultaneously on several streets. It is gratifying to witness the transformation taking shape as drainage construction, road reconstruction, and other civil works advance steadily across the estate.

Across Enugu State, our focus remains on delivering durable, high-quality infrastructure that improves the quality of life of our people and advances the bold economic transformation agenda of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

We will continue to monitor every project closely to ensure strict adherence to specifications, timely delivery, accountability, and value for money for Ndi Enugu.

Members of the Enugu State Executive Council paid a working visit to the New Enugu City project, accompanied by other aides of His Excellency, and led by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidi Onyia.

It was a rewarding experience to take the delegation through the scope, progress, and technical details of this landmark development, which stands as a major pillar of the administration’s infrastructure-led vision for a modern and economically competitive Enugu State.

The New Enugu City project is conceived as a strategic urban expansion designed to decongest the existing metropolis, unlock new economic corridors, and create a well-planned, future-ready city. Its core objectives include the provision of high-quality primary, secondary, and tertiary road networks, efficient drainage and utility corridors, reliable water and power infrastructure, and a layout that supports orderly growth and private sector investment.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the project is structured to promote integrated urban living by harmoniously blending residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and recreational land uses within a coherent masterplan. It is also designed to support smart city concepts through the incorporation of modern technologies, digital connectivity, and sustainable environmental systems that enhance livability, mobility, safety, and long-term resilience.

We sincerely commend our project team, the contractors, and the consultants for their professionalism, discipline, and commitment to quality delivery. Their dedication is clearly reflected in the standard of work being achieved on site and the steady progress recorded across key components of the project.

We also express our profound appreciation to His Excellency, the Governor of Enugu State, for his vision, consistent support, clear direction, and continued confidence in the Ministry and all project stakeholders.
