LASWA Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) is the organization responsible for regulating, developing and managing all aspects of the waterways in Lagos State

The Lagos State Government (LASG) in 2008 enacted the Lagos State Waterways Authority Act, which established the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA). LASWA is charged with the responsibility of coordinating and managing the reforms necessary for the long term growth and development of water transportation in Lagos State, including the granting of ferry licenses and concessions for the operations of terminals to the private sector. These reforms entail the creation of an enabling long-term regulatory environment that attracts significant private sector involvement in the provision of water transportation services.

🦺 SAFETY FIRST ON OUR WATERWAYS

As part of our continued commitment to promoting water safety and protecting lives across Lagos waterways, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has distributed over 250 life jackets to riverine communities across Lagos, including Ito-Osun, Saga, Abomiti, Emina, Itake and Yegunda in Epe, as well as Sagbokoji and Takwa Bay.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening water safety awareness and ensuring that residents and waterway users have access to essential personal safety equipment while navigating the waterways.

Beyond the distribution of life jackets, LASWA continues to engage with riverine communities, encouraging safe practices, responsible use of the waterways and greater awareness of the importance of personal protective equipment.

Through sustained community engagement and safety initiatives, LASWA remains committed to building safer, more responsible and sustainable waterways across Lagos.

At LASWA, every life matters. đź’™
