When we assumed office in 2019, we inherited over N21 billion in unpaid gratuities.

We began clearing this backlog with a firm commitment to honour the service of our retirees and restore their dignity.

Today, I flagged off another N10.32 billion in gratuity payments to 6,665 state and local government retirees, bringing our cumulative payments since 2019 to N44.134 billion.

We have now settled all state government gratuity obligations up to December 2025. Those accruing in 2026 will be paid early in 2027.

I will leave office with no backlog of gratuity, Insha Allah.

I thank our retirees, the NLC and the Nigeria Union of Pensioners for their patience and cooperation. Your welfare remains a priority for our administration.

Alhamdulillah, today I had the honour of presenting our daughter, Maryam Ibrahim Dan’azumi, to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, following her historic victory at the King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition.

I sincerely appreciate the First Lady for the warm reception and N20m support towards Maryam’s education.

Maryam has made Gombe and Nigeria proud. May Allah increase her in knowledge and wisdom.

Nigeria has lost an elder statesman whose remarkable journey of public service spanned generations.

The passing of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Tafidan Adamawa and former Governor of old Gongola State, is a profound loss to the North and our nation.

On behalf of the Northern Governors and the good people of Gombe State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, the Government and people of Adamawa State, and all Nigerians.

His decades of service across public administration, politics and economic development leave an enduring legacy.

May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen.

My administration remains committed to strengthening the Gombe State Civil Service and improving the welfare of our workers and retirees.

I have directed the Head of Service in collaboration with the State Civil Service Commission, to conduct a comprehensive manpower needs assessment ahead of a major recruitment exercise.

Our goal is to ensure that the State Civil Service has the personnel required for effective service delivery and remains adequately strengthened before the end of our administration on May 29, 2027.

We are also working to implement another batch of gratuity payments to our pensioners by the end of September 2026.

We will continue to build a stronger public service while honouring our obligations to those who have served Gombe State with dedication.

I warmly congratulate our Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, on the remarkable occasion of his 60th birthday.

His journey through public service reflects courage, intellect, humility and an enduring commitment to Nigeria.

As Vice President, he has remained a dependable partner to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in advancing the Agenda, while providing purposeful leadership at the National Economic Council.

On behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State, and together with my colleagues in the Northern Governors’ Forum, I celebrate a brother, friend and distinguished statesman whose life continues to inspire service to our nation.

May Almighty Allah bless His Excellency with sound health, greater wisdom and renewed strength for many more years of service to Nigeria and humanity.

Alhamdulillah! I am immensely proud of our daughter, Maryam Ibrahim Dan’azumi, who has made Gombe State and Nigeria proud by emerging overall winner at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition in Saudi Arabia.

Her remarkable journey from local, state and national competitions to international victory is a good example of discipline, dedication and excellence.

I congratulate Maryam, her family, teachers and the entire Gombe Muslim community on this historic achievement. I look forward to personally receiving and honouring her upon her return.

May Allah increase her in knowledge, preserve her upon the path of the Qur’an and make her an inspiration to many more young people, especially our girls.

Seven years ago, the people of Gombe State entrusted me with the with the responsibility of leading our dear state.

Today, I am grateful to Almighty Allah and to the good people of our state for their support throughout this journey.

Together, we have recorded significant progress across infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, and economic development. While much has been achieved, we remain committed to doing even more.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we will continue to build a greater and more prosperous Gombe State.
