FOREIGN INTERVENTIONS AND THE QUESTION OF TRUE INTENTIONS
Recent actions and statements by Donald Trump raise important questions about the true motivations behind U.S. foreign interventions.
Nigeria has been labeled a “Country of Particular Concern,” with claims that military action would be to protect Christians from terrorism.
At the same time, similar interventions or threats have been directed at countries like Venezuela and Iran, often framed as efforts to protect civilians or restore order. Yet these actions frequently occur without the clear consent of the affected nations and risk further instability.
In Nigeria’s case, insecurity affects all citizens, Muslims and Christians alike and deserves an inclusive, non-sectarian response. Addressing complex national challenges through selective narratives can oversimplify realities on the ground.
Sustainable peace is best achieved through respect for national sovereignty, genuine humanitarian concern, and policies that prioritize stability and the well-being of all people, rather than narrow strategic or economic interests.
