NOA VISITS ZIRS TO STRENGTHEN TAXPAYER EDUCATION IN ZAMFARA STATE
The Executive Chairman, Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service, Hajiya Rakiya Ahmad Dodo, FCTI, today received the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Zamfara State Directorate, on a courtesy visit at the ZIRS Headquarters in Gusau. The meeting focused on building a strong partnership for public enlightenment and taxpayer education across the State, with NOA pledging to deploy its grassroots structures including COMOs, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and media platforms to support ZIRS in educating citizens on the importance of tax payment for development.
The Executive Chairman welcomed the partnership, noting it comes at the right time as ZIRS expands taxpayer education. She stressed that citizens must first understand what taxation means, why taxes are paid, government’s duty to taxpayers, and the benefits of voluntary compliance.
Both agencies agreed to set up a Joint Working Committee, develop a work plan, and begin joint sensitisation campaigns in selected LGAs. This partnership will ensure citizens get accurate tax information, understand their civic duty, and see the link between taxes paid and services delivered in line with Governor Dauda Lawal’s vision for a self-reliant Zamfara State.
ZIRS appreciates the National Orientation Agency for the visit and looks forward to a strong collaboration that will improve tax awareness and revenue for the development of Zamfara State.
