In a bid to build the capacity of Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Oyo State and to improve State-wide institutional capacity with the aim of achieving efficiency in the State's procurement system, the Bureau of Public Procurement recently trained nominees from all Ministries, Department, Agencies of the State on "Procurement Principles & Practice".
The training covered modules such as:
- Public Procurement Principles & Practices/Oyo State Public Procurement Law - Application and Implications
- Categories of Public Procurement.
- Procurement Methods for Goods and Works
- Selection of Consultants
- Stages of Procurement
-Procurement Planning process
- Disposal of Assets
The occasion also presented an opportunity to sensitise these nominees, now known as "Procurement Champions", in the key role they play as liaisons between the MDAs and the Bureau.
The responsibilities of Procurement Champions include:
- Attending specialized trainings on procurement of goods, works and services
- Where necessary, providing clarifications on the Ministry, Department or Agency's procurement objectives to the Bureau
- Ensuring that procurement procedures and documentation comply with regulatory provisions, applicable guidelines and best practices.
