🇳🇬 IS NIGERIA A DEMOCRACY OR A SELECTED MONARCHY?

Every four years, we queue under the sun with hope in our hearts. Yet, after the votes are counted, we often find ourselves ruled by the same circle of power brokers, recycled names, and political godsons. Is this democracy, or just a well-decorated monarchy with ballot boxes?

When loyalty to godfathers matters more than loyalty to the people…
When appointments reward connections, not competence…
When the youth are reduced to thugs or praise singers during campaigns, only to be discarded after elections...
What are we truly practicing?

It’s no longer just about voting.
We must question the process that gives us limited, recycled choices.
Democracy must evolve beyond the ballot, it must reflect the will and welfare of the people. Until then, we are not free. We are managed.

Think. Speak. Demand better. Nigeria deserves more than packaged leadership.

Good governance units the people together.
Good governance sustains a good economy.

🇳🇬 For the Sake of Tomorrow, Read This Twice. Must read

In today’s Nigeria, politics has become both a theatre of dreams and a graveyard of youthful potential. As young people rise in number and voice, there are certain habits, alliances, and political tendencies we must avoid by all means, not just for personal growth, but for national salvation.

1. Don’t become a weapon in the hands of failed politicians.
If all you do is shout, insult, and defend people who see you as disposable, you’re not a comrade, you’re a casualty in waiting.

2. Don’t normalize political stomach infrastructure.
Trading your conscience for a cup of rice or a transport fare may feel like survival today, but it will cost us decades tomorrow.

3. Don’t inherit political enemies.
This generation must learn to fight for purpose, not for politicians. We don’t need blind loyalty, we need bold vision.

4. Don’t mock competence.
When you laugh at those who think, read, plan, and lead with integrity, you’re mocking your own future.

5. Don’t sell your voice.
Whether through votes, silence, or social media noise, never become a paid echo. Speak truth, even if your voice shakes.

The new Nigeria won’t be built by those who repeat the mistakes of old, it will be built by those who learn, unlearn, and refuse to be tools in broken systems.

When former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) handed over power, he left behind a foundation that, if wisely implemented, could have elevated Nigeria to remarkable heights. It was a moment loaded with potential, a legacy of peace, growing institutions, and a relatively stable economy.

SADLY, THE YEARS THAT FOLLOWED TOOK A DIFFERENT TURN.

Lesson:
History teaches us that true leadership is tested not by what is handed to you, but by the decisions you make with it. Power should be a tool for nation-building, and not for deepening division or hardship.
