STRENGTHENING THE NEUTRALS OF TODAY FOR THE DISPUTE RESOLUTION OF TOMORROW

The Plateau State Multi-Door Courthouse successfully held a one-day orientation for neutrals on the theme:

“Emerging ADR Trends: Strengthening the Capacity of Neutrals for the Future of Dispute Resolution.”

The orientation brought together neutrals and ADR practitioners for an engaging day of learning, knowledge-sharing and professional development.

As the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution continues to evolve, it is important that neutrals remain equipped with the knowledge, skills and adaptability required to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities in dispute resolution.

The programme provided a valuable platform for participants to reflect on current ADR practices, explore emerging trends and strengthen their capacity to serve disputants more effectively.

The future of dispute resolution is evolving—and our neutrals must evolve with it.

⚖️ Why Choose Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Over Court Litigation?

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) offers a smarter, faster, and more collaborative way to resolve conflicts.

Here are some key benefits of ADR:

✅ Faster Resolution – Cases can often be settled in weeks or months instead of years.

✅ Lower Costs – ADR is generally more affordable than lengthy court proceedings.

✅ Confidential Process – Unlike court cases, ADR sessions are private, protecting your reputation and sensitive information.

✅ Preserves Relationships – ADR encourages cooperation and understanding, making it ideal for families, businesses, workplaces, and communities.

✅ Flexible Solutions – Parties have more control over the outcome and can agree on practical solutions that work for everyone.

✅ Less Stressful – ADR promotes dialogue rather than confrontation, creating a more peaceful dispute resolution process.

đź’ˇ Remember: Going to court should not always be the first option. Many disputes can be resolved amicably through ADR, saving time, money, and relationships.

Choose dialogue over conflict. Choose resolution over litigation.

Did you know that not every dispute has to end up in court? ADR provides faster, more cost-effective, and less stressful ways to resolve conflicts.

âś… 1. Negotiation
The parties communicate directly to reach a mutually acceptable agreement without involving a third party.

âś… 2. Mediation
A neutral third party (the mediator) helps both sides communicate and find a solution. The mediator does not make the decision.

âś… 3. Arbitration
A neutral arbitrator listens to both parties, reviews the evidence, and makes a decision. Depending on the agreement, the decision may be legally binding.

âś… 4. Conciliation
A conciliator actively assists the parties by suggesting possible solutions and encouraging a peaceful settlement.

Whether it's a business disagreement, workplace conflict, family issue, or commercial dispute, ADR can help you resolve conflicts efficiently and amicably.

Which ADR method would you choose for resolving a dispute? Let us know in the comments!

Not every disagreement has to end up in court.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) offers faster, more affordable, and confidential ways to resolve disputes through dialogue and cooperation. Whether it's Negotiation, Mediation, Arbitration, or Conciliation, ADR helps parties find practical solutions while preserving relationships.

Let's build a culture where conflicts are resolved through understanding rather than confrontation.

Peace does not begin with answers, it begins with the courage to ask the questions we fear most. Who profits from our division? What truth have we buried to protect our comfort? Where did justice stop speaking?

Until we confront these without excuses or sentiment, every rebuilding is only decoration over cracks. The future is waiting, not for perfect leaders, but for honest people willing to face the mirror and choose differently.

🌍 Peace & Justice – It's Not Just Talk, It's Action 🌍
At the Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse, we believe in making peace and justice accessible to everyone.
We’re not just about words; we embody the change we want to see in the world. Established by law, but designed for all, our courthouse is a place where technicalities take a back seat to building and restoring relationships. 🕊️
Whether you can read or write, or if you're familiar with the legal system or not – you can walk in and be heard. No barriers, just a commitment to the values of peace and fairness for every individual.
This awareness tour is more than just a stakeholder engagement initiative – it’s a journey of reviving ancient practices, bringing communities together, and choosing peace over conflict, and justice over favoritism. ✊
Let’s honor what truly matters: human connections, equity, and the belief that justice should be for all, not just for the privileged.
Join us in the movement for accessible, transparent justice. Together, we’re restoring faith in systems that work for the people.

Ashes have a way of asking questions we can no longer avoid. Not “who started it,” but “who will end it?” Not “what was taken,” but “what will we rebuild?”

The road forward is not hidden, just costly—truth over pride, mercy over memory, courage over silence. From here, we either carry the fire in our hearts… or we learn to carry each other out of it.

Birthday Message to His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Governor of Plateau State

On this special occasion of your birthday, we, the Governing Council, Management, and Staff of the Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse (PMDC), join the good people of Plateau State in celebrating Your Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Governor of Plateau State, as you mark another year of life and service on 12 March.

Today is more than a personal milestone. It is an opportunity to honour a life given to duty, leadership, and the difficult but necessary work of steering Plateau State through complex times with courage, calm, and conviction. Your Excellency’s commitment to peace, justice, inclusion, and the rebuilding of public trust continues to inspire institutions such as ours, whose mandate rests on dialogue, mediation, and the quiet triumph of reason over conflict.

As a State known as the Home of Peace and Tourism, Plateau carries both a noble identity and a sacred responsibility. Under your leadership, that aspiration continues to find voice and direction in ways that challenge all of us in public service to do more, serve better, and stand more firmly for equity, order, and hope.

On this anniversary of your birth, we pray that God grants you renewed strength for the burdens of leadership, wisdom for every decision, peace in your heart, and grace enough for the road ahead. May this new year bring you deeper clarity, abiding health, and the satisfaction that comes from labouring for the common good of our people.

Please accept our warmest congratulations and heartfelt best wishes. We celebrate not only your birthday, but also your steadfast service to Plateau State and humanity.

Happy Birthday, Your Excellency.

International Women’s Day 2026 Message
By the Chairperson, Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse (PMDC)

On this International Women’s Day, the Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse joins the global community in reflecting on the 2026 UN Women theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.” This year’s theme is both a summons and a mirror. It calls institutions not merely to speak about justice, but to make justice real, accessible, and lived for every woman and girl.

We respectfully recognize His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, for the broader responsibility of creating an enabling environment where justice institutions can thrive, where women’s rights can be protected, and where governance can speak with moral seriousness to the needs of women and girls across our state.

With profound respect, we honour the Honourable Chief Judge of Plateau State, whose leadership remains vital in strengthening the administration of justice and in sustaining confidence in the judiciary as a place where fairness must be seen and felt. Your stewardship continues to create room for innovation, integrity, and access within our justice architecture.

We equally acknowledge the Honourable Attorney General of Plateau State, a member of council, whose office plays a critical role in shaping the legal and policy environment within which justice can serve all, especially the vulnerable. At a time when the demand for inclusion and protection is rising, the work of ensuring that law remains an instrument of equity is more important than ever.

As Chairperson of the Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse, I warmly salute and celebrate our women neutrals, whose wisdom, balance, empathy, and firmness continue to give life to the ideals of mediation, conciliation, and peaceful resolution. You are not simply professionals within the justice system. You are bridge-builders, listeners in a noisy world, and steady hands where conflict threatens dignity. Your work reminds us that justice is not only found in rulings and procedures, but also in restoration, fairness, voice, and human respect.

I also extend deep appreciation to our gender champions of justice, women and men who continue to insist that justice must not be selective, delayed, or distant from the lived realities of women and girls. In every effort to make our institutions safer, fairer, and more responsive, you help move us from intention to impact, from policy to practice, from rhetoric to reform.

To the Council, Management, and Staff of PMDC and partners, I say thank you. International Women’s Day is not a ceremonial pause. It is a moment of institutional reckoning. It asks whether our systems truly serve women. It asks whether access to justice is affordable, approachable, and humane. It asks whether the woman who enters our doors finds not another wall, but a pathway. This is why PMDC must continue to stand as a people-centered justice institution, committed to fairness without fear, access without bias, and resolution without discrimination.

For us at PMDC, this year’s theme resonates deeply. Rights mean little when they cannot be enforced. Justice means little when it is delayed, unaffordable, or intimidating. Action is what transforms good intentions into outcomes that women and girls can actually feel in their homes, workplaces, communities, and courts.

As we mark this day, may we recommit ourselves to building a justice system where women are not merely accommodated, but fully recognized; not merely protected in theory, but empowered in practice; not merely invited to the table, but heard, respected, and represented in the decisions that shape society.

On behalf of the Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse, I celebrate all women who carry justice in their voices, courage in their convictions, and hope in their daily labour. We honour your strength. We value your service. We believe your presence is indispensable to peace, equity, and the future we seek to build.

Happy International Women’s Day.

E-Signed
