SPEECH BY HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, CHIEF TITUS DAUDA, AGOM KUFANA CHIEFDOM, KAJURU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, ON THE OCCASION OF THE 2025 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
DATE: MARCH 8, 2025
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with great honor and deep appreciation that I stand before you today to commemorate the 2025 International Women's Day. This is a significant occasion, not only for the women of Kufana Chiefdom, Kajuru Local Government, and Kaduna State but for women all over the world. It is a day to recognize the immeasurable contributions of women in our homes, communities, and nation.
This year’s theme, for All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment," reminds us of the urgent need to continue advocating for gender equality, empowering women economically, and ensuring their voices are heard in all aspects of society.
The Role of Women in Our Community
In our chiefdom and across Nigeria, women are the backbone of society. They are our mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives—nurturing families, driving businesses, excelling in professions, and leading in governance. From the hardworking farmer in our villages to the dedicated teacher shaping the future of our children, from the market woman sustaining local trade to the young girl striving for education against all odds—our women deserve to be celebrated and supported.
Challenges Facing Women
Despite their contributions, many women continue to face challenges such as gender-based violence, lack of access to quality education and healthcare, economic hardship, and limited opportunities for leadership. As a community and as a people, we must commit ourselves to eliminating these barriers. A society that empowers its women is a society that prospers.
Commitment to Women’s Empowerment
As the traditional ruler of Kufana Chiefdom, I pledge my support for initiatives that uplift women. I encourage fathers, brothers, and husbands to stand as allies in promoting gender equality. Let us educate our daughters as we do our sons. Let us support women-led businesses. Let us uphold the dignity and rights of every woman and girl in our society.
Call to Action
I call upon the government, civil society organizations, religious and traditional institutions, and the private sector to join hands in creating policies and programs that benefit women. We must ensure that no woman is left behind in our journey toward progress.
To our women, I say: You are strong, you are capable, and you are unstoppable. Continue to dream big, work hard, and break barriers. You have our full support!
As we celebrate today, let us remember that International Women's Day is not just a day for words—it is a day for action. May our commitments today lead to a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
Long live the women of Kufana Chiefdom!
Long live Kajuru Local Government!
Long live Kaduna State!
Long live Nigeria!
Thank you, and God bless you all.
