The Director General, Engr Mubarak Shehu Ladan FNSE FNIWE, today successfully defended the Agency's 2026 budget before the Local Government Affairs Committee of the Kaduna State House of Assembly. The committee applauded the DGs efforts and urged him not to relent on his efforts in ensuring the rural communities of Kaduna State have access to Water Supply and Sanitation services.

The Director General of Kaduna State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (KADRUWASSA) Engr Mubarak Shehu Ladan was today conferred as a FELLOW of the prestigious Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the umbrella organisation for all the Engineering professions in Nigeria. The DG was honoured at the 2025 International Engineering Conference that took place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on the 1st of December, 2025. According to the NSE, Engr Mubarak Shehu Ladan was conferred with the FELLOWSHIP in recognition of his contribution to the development of the Water sector and Engineering profession in general. A fellow of the NSE is a distinguished member with the highest level of recognition in the engineering profession, signifying outstanding contributions, leadership, and ethical conduct.
The Council congratulated him and urged him to continue rendering services and support as always to the Engineering professions in Nigeria and beyond.

Engr Mubarak Shehu Ladan, the Director‑General of RUWASSA and his management team presented the Agency’s 2026‑2028 budget proposal to the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission, estimate committee chaired by the Hon. Commissioner, Budget and Planning Commission, Hon Mukhtar Ahmed Monrovia. In his presentation, the DG highlighted the continuous provision of portable water supply and sanitation facilities as a major focus for the period, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving water access and hygiene across the state. Another feat was achieved as the Agency received recognition for continuing to work using climate‑change design, and a budget line to support Nutrition was also acknowledged for RUWASSA. Congratulations to Engr Mubarak Shehu Ladan and all of us at RUWASSA. Congratulations to Kaduna State.

The Director General, Kaduna State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (KD-RUWASSA), Engr Mubarak Shehu Ladan attended the Nigerian-Hungarian Water Forum 2025 on the 4th of November, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

The forum served as an avenue for idea exchange, solution finding and propagation of memoranda between Nigerian Authorities and Hungarian counterparts, aimed at enhancing Water Engineering, Flood Management and Data Processing Systems.

While delivering a paper presentation titled “Challenges of Rural Water Supply in Northern Nigeria”, the DG KD-RUWASSA shared insights into Kaduna State’s remarkable footprint in the provision of potable water for thousands of residents across rural communities, as well as community inclusion strategies towards sustainable management of water supply and sanitation infrastructures.

Engr Ladan also commended His Excellency Governor Uba Sani Senator Uba Sani , for providing an enabling environment, sighting the improvement of security situation across previously troubled areas as a catalyst for inclusive development. The DG further announced the commencement of water supply and sanitation projects across several communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area having been neglected for many years due to insecurity.

Implementation of the SURWASH programme is steadily progressing in Kaduna as communities and about 48 institutions have so far benefitted from the programme. More activities under the programme are underway.

NYSC Kaduna Thanks Governor Uba Sani During Commissioning of Solar-Powered Borehole

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Kaduna State has expressed profound gratitude to Governor Sen. Uba Sani Senator Uba Sani and His Royal Highness, Malam Nuhu Bamalli (CFR), for their continued support and commitment to the welfare and security of corps members.

The appreciation came during the commissioning and handing over ceremony of a solar-powered borehole provided by the Kaduna State Government through the Kaduna State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Kaduna.

Speaking at the event, NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Efeke Murna Dadaza, thanked Governor Uba Sani for his prompt response to the Corps’ request and for ensuring a safe and conducive environment for corps members in the state. She assured that NYSC would take full ownership of the facility and ensure its proper use and maintenance.

The Director General of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Engr. Mubarak Shehu Ladan, highlighted the agency’s mandate to provide clean water across small towns and rural communities. He noted that the project aligns with the Governor’s commitment to improving access to potable water and lauded Governor Uba Sani’s unwavering support and trust in RUWASSA since May 29, 2023.

The NYSC Kaduna community expressed appreciation to the Governor for prioritizing their welfare and pledged continued cooperation towards sustaining the government’s efforts to enhance service conditions for corps members in the state.

Engr. Mubarak Shehu Ladan MNSE FNIWE, Director General, Kaduna RUWASSA Receives Integrity Stewardship Award

The Director General of Kaduna State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (KADRUWASSA), Engr. Mubarak Shehu Ladan MNSE FNIWE, has been recognized for his outstanding efforts in providing clean water and sanitation services to small towns and rural communities of Kaduna State.

During a ceremony held at KADRUWASSA, Engr. Ladan expressed gratitude to His Excellency Governor Senator Uba Sani administration for prioritizing rural transformation and supporting RUWASA's efforts. He highlighted the agency's achievements in providing global-standard water facilities in primary schools, health clinics and communities.

The award was presented by Advocacy for Peace and Value Reorientation, a civil society organization that aims to promote good governance and accountability. The organization's Executive Director, Comrade Abubakar Oyibo, commended the DGs efforts and encouraged the agency to sustain its momentum.

Other dignitaries, including Engr. Ali Muhammad Tukur, Director of Public Works and Infrastructure, all directors and staff praised Engr. The Director General, Engr. Mubarak Shehu Ladan MNSE FNIWE received in audience the leadership of the Association of Water Well Drilling Rig Owners & Practitioners (AWDROP) led by its National president Prof. Ipoola Okunlola and accompanied by other National and State executives of the Association. The President presented the mandate of the Association and sought the collaboration and partnership of RUWASSA. AWDROPs goals and mandate include:

● Enhance the progress of the borehole drilling business and support its members.

● Forestall all forms of unprofessional practices in the borehole drilling industry.

● Work in collaboration with the government in the provision of potable water to the population.

● Enhance the sustainability of borehole projects in Nigeria.

The DG assured the Association of RUWASSA's commitment and readiness to partner with them to ensure professionalism and timely delivery of water projects for the benefit of the people in line with H.E Governor Uba Sani's rural transformation and sustain Agenda.

The Director General, Engr. Mubarak Shehu Ladan received a delegation team from the Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) Abuja office and the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission, led by Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed on an intensive nutrition advocacy. The ongoing initiative aims to seek nutrition financing and establishment of creche for Nursing Mothers across key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) actively involved in nutrition-related interventions of which RUWASSA is a critical stakeholder. They expressed delight at the successes recorded under the DG and congratulated him on that. The DG assured them of his commitment and continuous support in actualising the set targets. He was later presented with a gift by the team.
