During our recent engagement in the AMBUVETS KONSULT LTD continued work under the ๐๐-๐ฃ๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ (Enhancing Livestock Health Access for Pastoral Communities) to better understand the realities of both livestock farmers & Last mile service agent face at the last mile.
As part of this process, our team conducted a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) a community-driven approach that allows pastoralists to openly identify and discuss the key challenges affecting their livestock systems.
Through this engagement, community members were able to outline the most pressing issues they face, from animal health challenges to seasonal pressures that affect livestock productivity and livelihoods.
Using participatory tools such as community mapping, seasonal calendars, and proportional piling, we worked alongside the pastoralists to identify critical livestock events throughout the year. These included periods when major vaccinable diseases and ectoparasite-related diseases are most prevalent, as well as the estimated demand for animal health products, drugs, and feed inputs.
Insights gathered through this process help AMBUVETS KONSULT LTD design community-responsive models that reflect the real needs of pastoral livestock systems.
By placing communities at the center of the conversation, we are able to co-create practical roadmaps that strengthen animal health access and support more resilient pastoral livelihoods.
Stay Update with AMBUVETS KONSULT LTD as we share more insights, impact, and progress from the field work.

AMBUVETS KONSULT LTD is excited to work with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development (FMLD) to explore PublicโPrivate Partnerships (PPPs) for last-mile animal health delivery and livestock development across Nigeria.
The Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, has declared the Ministryโs readiness to work with private sector actors for sustainable livestock development in Nigeria. He commended AMBUVETS KONSULT LTDโs contributions to last-mile animal health delivery and reiterated the Ministryโs commitment to collaborate with Ambuvets via sustainable PublicโPrivate Partnerships to support the implementation of the National Livestock Growth Acceleration Strategy (NL-GAS) nationwide.
He made these remarks during a meeting held with Ambuvets Konsult, the Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria, Dr. Samuel A Anzaku, as well as heads of departments and technical staff of the FMLD.
During the meeting, our CEO, Dr. Shehu Shamsudeen, presented Ambuvetsโ last-mile delivery model and highlighted the value of structured PPPs in advancing livestock development. He shared that through partnerships with state governments, Ambuvetsโ network of community-based animal health workers, veterinary paraprofessionals, and agrovets has reached over 150,000 livestock farmers, delivering vaccinations, veterinary services, advisory support, and access to animal health products. He also outlined how collaboration with the Ministry can strengthen disease control, expand vaccination coverage, enhance cold-chain infrastructure, and sustainably deliver other priorities of NL-GAS.
The presentation sparked constructive discussions on scaling last-mile delivery, leveraging community-based networks, and advancing disease-free zones to unlock export potential in Nigeriaโs livestock sector.
This signals a strong commitment to public-private collaboration in driving Nigeriaโs livestock sector forward. We look forward to working with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development to create lasting impact for livestock farmers and strengthen the nationโs livestock industry!

Building on the ongoing TVET training program, participants continue to acquire the right practical and theoretical skills in animal husbandry. This week was fully packed with engaging sessions focused on young animal housing & building better, healthier futures for calves, lambs, and kids.
The training on young animal housing management was a great success, with trainees demonstrating outstanding enthusiasm and active participation. The session provided in-depth knowledge on proper housing systems for calves, lambs, and kids, alongside critical discussions on the importance of effective colostrum management in improving early-life survival and long-term productivity.
Through an interactive and hands-on approach, trainees gained practical insights into different housing types and how to adapt them to suit their specific farm conditions. The emphasis on colostrum management strongly resonated with participants, many of whom identified gaps in their previous practices and expressed commitment to implementing improved methods.
This session effectively addressed key knowledge gaps in young animal care a crucial factor influencing livestock mortality rates and overall productivity. The level of engagement, thoughtful questions, and positive feedback further demonstrate that the Federal Government-sponsored TVET program is successfully strengthening capacity within the livestock sector and improving animal welfare standards across the Kaduna region.
In addition, a recent technological innovation was introduced to enhance program efficiency and accountability. A biometric data capture exercise was successfully conducted for all participants, ensuring accurate record-keeping and streamlined monitoring of trainee progress. This development reflects our commitment to combining practical agricultural training with modern technology creating a stronger, smarter, and more sustainable future for livestock development.

Sustainable livestock development does not happen through short-term interventions or one-off distributions. It happens when communities are empowered to build, manage, and sustain the systems designed to serve them.
This belief underpins the partnership between the Confederation of Traditional Stock Breeders' Organizations in Africa (๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ง) & Ambuvet Konsult , currently being implemented in pastoral communities across Kaduna and Jigawa States.
For years, livestock producers in Ladduga (Kachia LGA, Kaduna State) and Maigatari (Jigawa State) have faced a persistent challenge: limited access to quality veterinary services, vaccines, and essential livestock medicines at the last mile. When livestock fall sick, treatment is often delayed, ineffective, or unavailable leading to preventable losses, reduced productivity, and weakened livelihoods.
The EL-PAC partnership between ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ง&AMBUVETS KONSULT LTD is structured around 5 strategic pillars designed to create lasting systems, not temporary solutions:
1. Establishment of Veterinary & Livestock Inputs Hubs
2. Capacity Building & Certification for Community-Based Animal Health Service Providers
3. Enterprise & Market Development
4. Herd Health Awareness Campaigns
5. Women & Youth Entrepreneurship Support
Leaders and farmers welcomed the initiative as timely and transformative intervention. We are proud to partner with CORET, in strengthening sustainable livestock healthcare systems in Kaduna and Jigawa States.

AMBUVETS KONSULT LTD joined the 2nd Dairy Value Chain Forum in Abuja under the Partnership for Green and Productive Dairy in Nigeria ( ). Alongside government, research institutions, cooperatives, and development partners, we sat at the same table not just to talk, but to solve.
Conversations centered on what truly matters: strengthening milk collection systems and building safer, healthier workplaces across Nigeria's dairy sector. As a private organization in the animal health care space, we brought our lens to the table one shaped by years of hands-on work in udder health. Because we know that a healthier cow starts with better udder care, and a stronger dairy industry starts with the people committed to making it happen.
True PPP isn't about signing MOUs. It's about showing up, listening, and doing the work together. That's exactly what happened in Abuja.
