A CALL FOR ACTION AND RESPONSIBLE REPRESENTATION IN IGABI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

The people of Afaka Ward have remained steadfast, hopeful, and patient in their support for their representative at the National Assembly, Hon. Hussaini Muhammad Jalo, member representing Igabi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. From the general election victory to the subsequent bye-election that reaffirmed his mandate, the electorate stood firmly and overwhelmingly behind him.

This mandate was not merely a political victory , it was a social contract built on trust, expectations, and clearly articulated developmental promises.

The Promise of Road Infrastructure

Among the most prominent commitments made to the good people of Afaka Ward was the construction of the Yan-Kifi Transformer Road linking to NECO Eye Centre Road. This proposed road project was received with widespread optimism and unity across party lines, youth associations, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders.

Infrastructure, particularly road development, is not a luxury — it is a catalyst for economic growth, security enhancement, mobility, and improved quality of life. For a federal constituency such as Igabi, strategic road projects are fundamental indicators of effective representation and responsive leadership.

Emerging Concerns

However, recent developments have raised legitimate concerns within the ward. With timelines toward 2027 gradually becoming clearer, there appears to be no visible evidence, official communication, or tangible progress regarding the promised road project.

The silence and absence of updates have created uncertainty among constituents who initially embraced the project with enthusiasm and solidarity.

The Need for Inclusion and Action.

This critique is not rooted in hostility but in civic responsibility. The people of Afaka Ward deserve:

1. Clear communication on the status of the Yan-Kifi to NECO Eye Centre road project.

2. Transparency regarding budgetary provisions and implementation timelines.

3. Visible commitment through commencement or phased ex*****on of the project.

Representation at the National Assembly carries with it the duty to consistently engage, inform, and deliver on commitments made to constituents.

A Defining Moment

Hon. Hussaini Muhammad Jalo stands at a defining moment in his representation. The fulfillment of this road project would reaffirm public trust and strengthen his leadership credentials. Conversely, failure to act decisively may deepen dissatisfaction and influence future political decisions within the ward.

The people of Afaka Ward remain hopeful. They await not rhetoric, but action. They seek not confrontation, but delivery.

Leadership is ultimately measured not by promises made, but by promises kept.

UPYA LEADS AS MANDO COMMUNITY AND KAEDCO PARTNER TO ENHANCE POWER SUPPLY

The leadership of the United Progressive Youths Association (UPYA) on Monday, 3rd October, marked a significant step forward for the Mando community. Following UPYA’s formal request and the positive response from the KAEDCO Mando Area Office, both parties came together in the spirit of unity, dialogue, and shared purpose.

The meeting went beyond discussions about electricity, it was about people, families, and the future of the community. For too long, Mando residents have endured irregular power supply, affecting businesses, students, and households alike. But today, hope was rekindled.

Representatives of UPYA and KAEDCO met not as separate entities but as partners in progress. The discussions were open, sincere, and focused on identifying key issues, sharing experiences, and developing practical solutions to improve electricity supply in the area. During the meeting, UPYA suggested that KAEDCO should increase the number of supply hours to make the payment of bills smoother and more convenient for residents. The KAEDCO team responded positively, assuring that they would deliberate on the suggestion and provide feedback.

Both sides also agreed on the need to discuss and review the timing of power supply, to ensure that electricity distribution aligns better with the needs of the community. In addition, there was a shared commitment to intensify community engagement and sensitisation, so that residents can better understand power distribution schedules, billing systems, and their roles in maintaining a sustainable supply.

Both UPYA and KAEDCO reaffirmed their commitment to genuine collaboration to listen more, communicate better, and respond promptly to the needs of Mando residents. KAEDCO pledged to enhance service delivery, while UPYA committed to remain the voice of the people, ensuring that community concerns are continuously addressed.

This meeting symbolizes what can be achieved when youth, community leaders, and service providers work together toward a common vision, a brighter, stronger, and more connected Mando. Progress begins with dialogue, grows through understanding, and thrives through unity. Together, we light the path forward, not just with electricity, but with hope, compassion, and collective action.
