Private schools are turning into something else. Unlike teachers of before that strive to impact knowledge on their students to be better people in the society, teaching is now seen as a last resort, "let me just have something doing before I get another job" And this is why they are very aggressive and intolerant no matter how small the offense is, they subject students to corporal punishments and all sort of punishments they were only known to be in police or army barracks.
A child was killed 5 days ago by his class teacher through flogging because he didn't do his homework.
The worst part is that the teacher and the school owner showed no remorse but instead insulted the mother and asked the police to guard their school because the people in the community wanted to burn down the school.
I had to use the media to draw the attention of all those concerned.
Thankfully the school is now locked by the government and the perpetrator in police custody.
Now the points to ponder on:
1. Is corporal punishment part of our Educational Policy?
2. Does it make students more serious about their school activities?
3. Does it make them better people in the society?
4. How would they treat their students when they eventually become teachers?
5. Does it make them respect their teachers who are supposed to be their role models?
