Kano Assembly Gets New Directors as Reforms Continue

As part of ongoing reforms to reward performance, strengthen service delivery and improve administrative efficiency within the legislative service, the Kano State House of Assembly Service Commission has approved the establishment of a Works Department and confirmed the following appointments to fill vacant and newly created positions:

- Lawal Yusuf Sagagi - promoted from Assistant Director, Publication to Acting Director, Information and Publication.
- Aminu Ahmad Yakubu - promoted from Assistant Director, Printing to Acting Director, Works and Physical Planning.
- Murtala Yusuf - redeployed from Chief Legislative Officer to Acting Director, Protocol (to sit in).

In a statement, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore described the promotions as routine administrative exercises, noting that the officers were considered after serving the required periods and meeting the conditions for advancement.

The affected officers thanked the Speaker for his commitment to strengthening the workforce and enhancing legislative efficiency. They expressed optimism about continuing to discharge their duties with greater dedication and professionalism in support of legislative services.

Falgore congratulated the newly appointed officers and wished them success in their respective assignments. He added that further measures are underway to ensure a conducive working environment and additional benefits for legislative staff.

Kano Assembly Suspends Three Local Government Area Councils With Immediate Effect.

The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended Chairmen of three local Governments namely Alh Abubakar Mustapha Rogo from Rogo local Government, Dr, Alhassan Salisu from Bebeji local Government and Alh Bello Gadanya from Bagwai local Government respectfully.

This was contained in a released by speaker's Spokeperson, kamaluddeen Sani Shawai on Tuesday.,The decision of Kano State House of Assembly followed the adoption of the House committee on local Government and chieftency Affairs. Lawan Hussain Dala, the majority leader, and on behalf of the committee chairman said the House received separate petitions submitted by the people of the area councils.

The petitions contained alleged financial misappropriation, abuse of office, breach of public trust and other administrative irregularities among others.

Furthermore, the committee highlighted some relevant documents and reviewed records obtained from affected Local Government councils while having interactive sessions with members of the respective Local Government before taking the final decisions.

The recommendation was made pursuant to section 128 and 129 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as (amended), which gives the state legislative body power to conduct investigations and oversight functions effectively.

However, the House adopted the committee s recommendation and gave further directive to communicate to its resolution to the ministry of local Government and chieftency Affairs for immediate actions to be taken.

The vice Chairmen are to take over the affairs of their local Government activities as soon as possible pending the outcome of the final resolution from the House committee of Kano State House of Assembly on local Government and chieftency Affairs.
