Today’s devastating fire outbreak is a painful reminder of why urgent action is needed.
The congestion, overcrowding, and poor accessibility within the Kano markets area continue to put lives, businesses, and properties at serious risk. As seen in the picture, emergency response becomes extremely difficult when roads are blocked and the environment is overstretched.
There is an urgent need to relocate the Kano markets out of the city center for safety, orderliness, and sustainable economic growth. This is not about displacing traders, it is about protecting them. A properly planned and spacious market environment will reduce fire risks, improve emergency access, ease traffic congestion, and create a safer atmosphere for everyone.
