After reaching more deaf children and supporting them with school uniforms and reading and writing materials a few weeks ago, Rt. Rt. Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kusada asked me to meet him upon his return from India to receive additional materials and continue with the project.
This morning, I had the opportunity to meet him at his residence in Katsina, alongside our interpreter and the Coordinator of the Deaf School, Muhammad Malami Ingawa, where we received 25 school bags, 50 notebooks, and ₦50,000 to continue with the initiative. We also discussed several key developmental issues affecting persons with disabilities.
For many years, persons with disabilities have faced serious challenges, including limited access to quality education, employment, and empowerment opportunities. These barriers have continued to widen inequality and marginalization within our communities.
Rt. Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kusada is deeply committed to disability inclusion and ensuring that persons with disabilities have access to education, employment, and empowerment. We pray that Allah rewards him abundantly and elevates him to greater success.

Rt. Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kusada writes:
🎉 Happy 65th Independence, Nigeria!
Historians have narrated how the great men from both Northern and Southern Nigeria struggled against colonial rulers in the fight for our nation’s independence.
I will never forget when I was a student at Government Day Secondary School, Kusada, how our history teacher told us about the injustices of colonial rule in this country, and the suffering our forefathers endured.
They burnt down houses and villages, shot at protesters (for example, during the Aba Women’s Riot of 1929), and imprisoned or flogged those who resisted. They imposed harsh taxes and severely punished defaulters. Not only that, they also forced our ancestors into hard labor without pay.
This history reminds us of the priceless value of freedom and the importance of celebrating a day like today.
I join myself, my family, my relatives, and all Nigerians in celebrating our Independence Day. (Happy Independence Day – NAIJA @65)
