🕊️ Farewell, General: A Tribute to Muhammadu Buhari 🕊️
A soldier’s march has come to rest,
The boots now still, the heart at peace.
From Daura’s soil to Eagle’s crest,
Your journey’s course has found release.
You wore the khaki with solemn pride,
A guard of discipline and law,
And when the tides of fate returned,
You ruled again — amidst applause and flaw.
A man of silence, firm and plain,
Not one for flattery or fuss,
You bore the weight of praise and pain,
And walked your road ahead of us.
You fought corruption's endless tide,
And preached a leaner, sterner way,
Though storms did gather far and wide,
You held your post until the day.
Some saw a hero, some saw a test,
You were a mirror for our land —
Reflecting hopes, and grief, and quest
To rise again with steady hand.
And now the headlines bow their head,
The flags at half-mast mourn the news:
A son of Nigeria is dead,
His name etched deep in morning’s hues.
Rest now, O Daura’s lion, sleep,
Your watch is done, your vigil passed.
Nigeria still has wounds that weep,
But in your name by the grace of Jesus, we’ll heal — at last.
President Muhammadu Buhari (1942–2025) was a complex figure — a soldier, a statesman, a symbol of national discipline, and a leader who inspired both fierce loyalty and passionate criticism. Yet, he remained steadfast in his convictions. Whether in uniform or in democratic office, he shaped Nigeria's path in indelible ways. His passing marks the end of an era — one filled with hard truths, tough choices, and enduring legacies.
May he find peace beyond the storm. May history remember him with balance and clarity.
