ALHA GENERAL MANAGER, MR ARE OLADAPO BAGS NELSON MANDELA LEADERSHIP AWARD

The General Manager of the Lagos State Agricultural Lands Holdings Authority (ALHA), Mr. Oladapo Muhammed Are has been honored with the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity by the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN).

The youth group stated that Mr Are as is seen as becon of hope to the Nigerian youth who was considered for the highest award of the association on account of his sterling performance in the public sector, dedication to duty and immense contributions to the betterment of humanity.

The group stated that since the emergence of Are’s appointment as ALHA GM, the agency has witnessed an unprecedented transformation that has upgraded it to a critical organization that supports the drive of the state government towards sufficiency in food production.

As a result of the laudable repositioning of the agency by Are and his team, YAN said it is on record that ALHA has also witnessed considerable and commendable improvement in revenue generation.

“As an organization, the leadership of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) is proud to associate with a man destined to explore the world. Ambassador Oladapo Muhammed Are is a great leader, a courageous icon, an astute public servant with capacity per excellence, a cognitive thinker, a seasoned analyst, an epitome of excellence with a heart of gold, and indeed an indefatigable public servant whose proven integrity, hard work and administrative acumen have combined forces to reposition and transform the Lagos State Agricultural Lands Holdings Authority (ALHA).

“Ambassador Are is an emissary of societal development and a youth builder in the continent of Africa. He epitomizes excellence and stood consistently for the proclamation of integrity and equity because looking keenly into his antecedents, he has proven to align with the mission and vision of the great Nelson Mandela.

“It is in line with the foregoing and coupled with unrelenting contributions towards youth and students’ developmental projects that Ambassador Are has been considered worthy of the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity as a beacon of hope to the Nigerian youth,” the group said.

ALHA INSPECTS LAGOS RICE FIELDS IN OGUN STATE

The General Manager, Lagos State Agricultural Land Holdings Authority, Mr Dapo-Are, has embarked on an inspection tour of a rice field owned by the State Government at Eegua, Ogun state.

Speaking during the visit, Dapo-Are said the Lagos State Government had acquired the large expanse of land to cultivate paddy rice which will eventually supplied to the newly commissioned rice processing mill at Imota, Lagos.

He noted that during the inspection conducted round the rice field by him and his his team, it was observed that the land is covered by secondary vegetation which will make it easy for cultivation and of great economic benefit not only to the State Government, but to the people of Lagos as well.

According to him, “It will provide employment for Lagosians who are interested in cultivating paddy rice and can resident within the farm land settlement. Apart from serving as raw materials for the production of rice at Imota Rice Mill, the proximity between Lagos and Ogun States has economic advantage in terms of logistics”.

Also speaking, the representative of Swagco, the Company which will manage the Rice Field. Mr. Adegboyega stated that his company has completed arrangements to ensure that the land is effectively managed.

He added that they also intend to support the host communities with the provision of roads, health care services and schools as part of their corporate social responsibilities.

HRM, Oba M.A. Dosumu, the Onigua of Eegua commended the Lagos State Government on behalf of the community on the Rice Field and promised to give their maximum cooperation to the project manager.

Other memebers of the inspection team are Mr John Adeosun of Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and Engineer Shekete Olumide of Rice Value Chain Unit, ALHA among others.
