SURULERE LGEA JOINS LAGOS IN BUILDING A GREENER FUTURE
Date: Tuesday, 14th July, 2026.
The 2026 Tree Planting Exercise, with the theme "Trees for Lagos: Our City, Our Responsibility," is another laudable environmental sustainability initiative of the Lagos State Government under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
The programme *aligns with the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda,* particularly in the *areas of Environment and Sustainability, Health, and Social Inclusion* by promoting a cleaner, greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient Lagos.
As part of this noble initiative, *the Surulere Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), under the leadership of the *Education Secretary, Mrs. Salami Idiat Temilade, proudly identifies with this environmental campaign.

*Surulere NASU Day Celebration 2026: Promoting Unity, Collaboration and Progress*
*Date:* Thursday, 9th July, 2026
It was a joyous and memorable occasion as the *Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Surulere Local Government Education Authority (LGEA),* celebrated the second edition of its *NASU Day under the theme "Unity in Progress."*
The colourful event attracted distinguished union leaders, stakeholders, and other invited guests from various walks of life, reflecting the significance of the celebration.
The Surulere Education Secretary, *Mrs. Salami Idiat Temiilade,* was ably represented by the *Head of the Human Resource Management and Administration (HRM&A) Department, Miss Akanbi Adejoke Saidat,* who conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of the Education Secretary, explaining that she was unavoidably absent due to official engagements.
On behalf of the Education Secretary, she congratulated the leadership and entire membership of NASU, Surulere Unit, for the successful organisation of the event.
She commended the union for its unwavering commitment to promoting staff welfare, unity, and harmonious working relationships within the Authority.
She further noted that the celebration was more than a social gathering; it was a reflection of the union's unity, dedication, resilience, and selfless service to the growth and development of public education.

*Excellence Beyond Limitations:*
Surulere LGEA Celebrates Wesley School 1's Outstanding Quiz Competition Triumph.
The Education Secretary of Surulere Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), *Mrs. Salami Idiat Temiilade,* warmly received the outstanding quiz competition award recipients from *Wesley School 1 for the Hearing Impaired* in her office.
She was joined by the Head of the Human Resources Management and Administration (HRM&A) Department and the Principal of the school during a special plaque presentation held in honour of the school's remarkable achievement.
*Wesley School 1 for the Hearing Impaired* made Surulere proud by emerging as one of the top-performing schools in the recently concluded Surulere Primary Schools Quiz Competition, which featured participants from various primary schools across the Local Government Education Authority.
The grand finale of the competition was held on 3rd June, 2026, at the Gamaliel Onosode Multipurpose Hall.
Defying expectations and demonstrating that ability is not defined by disability,* the pupils delivered an exceptional performance, securing:
1. Tech Trailblazer Award – 1st Position.
2. School Outreach Ministry Award (Sponsored by Good News Baptist Church, Surulere) –1st Position.
3. Save A Child, Save A Nation Award – 2nd Position.
Speaking during the presentation, the Education Secretary commended the pupils, their teachers, and the school management for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to academic excellence.
She noted that their outstanding performance serves as an inspiration to other schools and reinforces the importance of inclusive education, determination, and hard work.

*FLAG-OFF OF THE PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU (PBAT) RENEWED HOPE NATIONAL HOME-GROWN SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMME IN SURULERE PRIMARY SCHOOLS*
The Education Secretary of Surulere Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Mrs. Salami Idiat Temiilade, officially *flagged off the distribution of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme,* in partnership with the Lagos State Government (Conference 57), across public primary schools in Surulere.
The initiative is aimed at improving the nutritional status of primary school pupils by providing healthy and balanced meals during school hours.
It also supports increased school enrolment, regular attendance, enhanced learning outcomes, and the overall well-being of learners.
In her remarks, the Education Secretary commended the Federal and Lagos State Governments for the laudable initiative and encouraged all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the projects.

The Education Secretary of the Surulere Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) graciously attended the *2025/2026 Annual Joint Inter-House Sports Competition jointly organized by Kossy Bethel Nursery and Primary School, Christ Central Nursery and Primary School, and Ajenifuja Nursery and Primary School.*
The event underscored the vital role of sports in promoting the holistic development of learners by fostering physical fitness, mental alertness, teamwork and healthy competition.
It aptly reflected the popular saying, *"A sound mind in a sound body,"* emphasizing the importance of balancing academic excellence with physical well-being.
Furthermore, the competition highlighted the *psychomotor domain of learning,* providing pupils with opportunities to develop essential motor skills, coordination and sportsmanship.
The occasion was well attended by dignitaries, school Headteachers and parents.

SURULERE EDUCATION SECRETARY HOSTS LAGOS STATE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING UNIT TEAM.

As part of the ongoing commitment to promoting quality education and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders, the *Education Secretary of Surulere Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Mrs. Salami Idiat Temilade,* warmly received a team of *Project Officers from the Lagos State Project Implementation and Monitoring Unit (PIMU)* of the Lagos State Governor's Office.
The visit was aimed at monitoring and assessing the implementation of government-funded educational projects within Surulere LGEA, while also evaluating their impact on teaching, learning, and the overall development of public primary schools in the area.
The Project Officers commended the efforts of the Education Secretary for continuous monitoring of the projects and sharing vision of the Lagos State Goverment by providing a conducive learning environment for every child.
