NOA Sensitises Baales in Eti-Osa on National Value Charter and Continuous Voter Registration

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) carried out a sensitisation and advocacy visit to Baales in Eti-Osa on the National Value Charter and the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The engagement, which took place at Ikoyi Tedo, focused on the role of traditional community leaders in promoting values such as Patriotism, Discipline, Unity and Peaceful Co-existence within their communities. The Baales were encouraged to continue guiding residents towards responsible behaviour and active participation in community development.

The sensitisation also created awareness on the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, with emphasis on the need for eligible residents to register and update their voter information ahead of future elections. The community leaders were urged to mobilise residents within their communities to take advantage of the exercise.

The interaction recorded positive engagement from the Baales, who responded to issues relating to Civic Responsibility and Voter Participation.

NOA Sensitises Students on National Core Values and Examination Malpractice in Egbe/Idimu LCDA

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Egbe/Idimu LCDA, carried out a sensitization and educational programme for SS3 students of Hanniel College, Idimu, on National Core Values and examination malpractice ahead of the forthcoming Senior WAEC examinations.

The sensitization placed strong emphasis on the dangers and consequences of examination malpractice, describing it as a dishonest act that can occur before, during or after examinations. Students were warned against engaging in practices such as impersonation, copying, exchange of answers and the use of unauthorized materials during examinations. They were reminded that involvement in examination malpractice could damage their academic future and undermine the value of hard work and integrity.

Students were also encouraged to prepare adequately for their examinations through proper study habits, discipline and dedication to their academic work. The engagement stressed that success achieved through honesty and personal effort remains more rewarding and sustainable.

The programme further highlighted the seven National Core Values, with students encouraged to embrace self-control, orderliness, loyalty and respect for rules and regulations. They were also sensitized on the importance of peaceful co-existence and responsible behaviour within and outside the school environment.

The programme recorded active participation from the students, who engaged on issues relating to examination integrity, discipline and moral values.

NOA Sensitises Residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun on Upcoming Continuous Voter Registration

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, carried out a sensitization exercise on the planned resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) final phase scheduled to hold from May 11 to July 10, 2026.

The exercise took place across key locations, including Ajegunle Boundary Roundabout, Boundary Market, Orodu Street and Tolu Road, reaching a broad audience of market men and women, transport operators, passengers and residents within the area.

During the engagement, residents were informed about the importance of participating in the voter registration process and were encouraged to take advantage of the exercise to register, update or correct their details. The sensitization emphasized the need for eligible citizens to ensure their information is properly captured in preparation for future elections.

The programme recorded active participation, with residents engaging in the procedures and requirements for the registration process.

NOA Sensitises Traditional Medicine Practitioners on Safe and Hygienic Practices in Ikorodu

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ikorodu Local Government, carried out a sensitization campaign for members of the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP) at the Ikorodu Local Government Hall. The engagement focused on promoting safe and hygienic practices in traditional medicine.

Practitioners were sensitized on the need to maintain cleanliness in the preparation, handling and storage of herbal medicines to prevent contamination and ensure effectiveness. Emphasis was also placed on personal hygiene and keeping treatment centres and surrounding environments clean at all times.

The session also emphasized the need for collaboration with qualified medical professionals. They were encouraged to recognise the limits of their practice and refer cases that require medical attention. Cooperation between traditional practitioners and medical professionals was highlighted as important for improving patient care and strengthening public health outcomes.

The discussion further addressed the risks associated with the use of harmful or unverified substances and reinforced the responsibility of practitioners to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of their patients at all times.

The Programme recorded active participation, with practitioners sharing practical concerns and ways to improve hygiene, patient care and collaboration within their practice.

NOA Sensitises Alimosho Residents on INEC Claims and Objections Process

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alimosho Local Government Area, carried out a sensitization campaign on the ongoing display exercise for verification of voter details and objections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The exercise was conducted across key public locations in Ikotun, including BRT Bus Stop, Fatimo Street and Marwa Park.

The campaign was aimed at informing residents about the importance of checking their details on the preliminary voters’ register displayed at designated INEC centres. Participants were educated on the need to confirm that their names and personal information were correctly captured and to take immediate steps where corrections were required.

Residents were also sensitized on the claims and objections process, including filing a claim where a name is missing from the register, where details are incomplete and where information has been wrongly spelt. The campaign further explained the importance of raising objections in cases where a listed individual is not a resident of the area, is deceased or is under the age of 18.

The sensitization stressed that the display exercise, which commenced on April 29 and runs until May 5, 2026, is an important step in ensuring the credibility and accuracy of the voters’ register ahead of future elections. Residents were encouraged to make use of the opportunity within the stipulated period.

The exercise reached a broad cross-section of residents, including market men and women, members of the NURTW and BRT passengers, who actively engaged with the messages shared during the campaign.

*NOA Advocates Core Values Among Youths for National Development*

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lagos State Directorate, has charged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to embrace the importance of building responsible and value-driven youths for National Development.

This call was made during a lecture held on Friday, 1st May 2026, at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos State, for the 2026 Batch A, Stream II corps members.

The State Director, NOA Lagos State Directorate, Dr. Mustafa Adedeji Tukur, who was represented by Mrs. Omotola Ajao, urged corp members to promote national unity, respect cultural diversity, and serve faithfully in their places of assignment. She also encouraged them to resist corruption, remain trustworthy, and carry out their duties diligently.

Mrs Ajao further emphasized that a responsible youth is one who is accountable, disciplined, and committed to doing what is right at all times, while a value-driven youth is guided by strong moral principles such as integrity, patriotism, and respect for others.

Key National Values highlighted include Patriotism, Integrity, Discipline, Self-Reliance, Religious Tolerance, and Social Justice, which she noted are essential for building a strong and united Nation.

Corp members were encouraged to be agents of positive change by promoting peace, fairness, and equality in their various communities. The importance of good character and conduct were also stressed, with the reminder that these often speak louder than academic qualifications.

The lecture concluded with a call to action, urging corp members to choose Integrity over Corruption, Discipline over Indiscipline, and Service over Selfishness. The National Orientation Agency also reaffirmed its commitment to partnering NYSC in shaping responsible and value-driven citizens.

Also speaking, Mr. Paul Ibe, NOA-CDS Coordinator in Lagos State, invited interested corp members to join the NOA-CDS group, noting that it focuses on civic education, environmental awareness, health outreach, and community development initiatives. He reminded them that the service year provides an opportunity to make meaningful and lasting contributions to society.

The lecture was attended by key stakeholders, including Mrs. Omotola Ajao (NOA Lagos State), Engr. On the occasion of Workers’ Day, Friday, May 1, 2026, I extend warm greetings and heartfelt appreciation to all hardworking men and women across Lagos State.

Today, we celebrate your resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of our state and nation. Your commitment to duty, despite challenges, continues to drive progress and strengthen the fabric of our society.

As we mark this year’s Workers’ Day, I urge all workers to remain steadfast, uphold professionalism, and demonstrate integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities. Your role in nation-building cannot be overemphasized, as your daily efforts contribute significantly to economic growth, social stability, and national unity.

In line with the National Values Charter, I encourage all workers to embrace discipline, tolerance, accountability, and a strong sense of duty of care. Let us continue to support one another, work in unity, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of our society.

NOA SENSITISES BARIGA RESIDENTS ON GIRL-CHILD PROTECTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL CARE

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Bariga LCDA in Shomolu LGA, carried out a sensitization programme on Girl-Child Sexual Abuse and Environmental Care across different groups in Bariga. The engagements were held during the Widows’ Monthly Meeting at the Bariga Council Multipurpose Hall and later at Adaranijo Market, where widows as well as market men and women were reached.

The programme addressed the issue of girl-child sexual abuse and the need for stronger protection of children within families and communities. Participants were educated on different forms of abuse and were reminded of the importance of paying close attention to the wellbeing of children, especially the girl-child.

Parents and caregivers were encouraged to listen to children when they express discomfort, monitor their interactions and avoid leaving them in the care of persons whose character is uncertain. The message stressed that many abuse cases involve people known to the family, making vigilance and timely action very important.

The environmental aspect of the programme focused on proper waste disposal, prevention of drainage blockage and the need to maintain clean surroundings, especially during the rainy season. Participants were also encouraged to adopt healthy habits that support personal and public wellbeing.

The sensitization recorded active participation across both locations, with useful discussions on child protection, responsible caregiving and environmental cleanliness.

*NOA Lagos State Sensitizes NYSC Members in Badagry on Safe Migration, Girl-Child Protection*

As part of efforts to promote government policies and safeguard vulnerable groups in line with the National Values Charter, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Lagos State, organized a public enlightenment programme in Badagry Local Government Area, emphasizing the principle of duty of care while addressing safe migration and girl-child sexual abuse.

The programme, held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Secretariat of Badagry Local Government Area, targeted members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), with the aim of educating them on the dangers of irregular migration and the rising cases of girl-child sexual abuse.

In his presentation, the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer (COMO), Bowoto Kolawole Collins, highlighted that irregular migration and sexual abuse have become serious societal challenges requiring urgent attention. He emphasized that the concept of duty of care under the National Values Charter places responsibility on every citizen to protect others, especially vulnerable groups like children from harm, exploitation, and abuse.

The enlightenment session focused on promoting safe migration practices, encouraging the use of valid travel documents, and discouraging human trafficking and exploitation. Participants were also educated on the rights of the girl-child and the importance of protecting them from all forms of abuse.

Key messages delivered during the programme included the need for individuals to speak up against abuse, as well as the importance of vigilance, noting that perpetrators are often known to victims. Corps members were also advised not to entrust children to just anyone and to report suspicious activities to appropriate authorities such as security agencies, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).

The session further encouraged victims of abuse to break the culture of silence and seek help, while also equipping participants with knowledge on how to support victims and refer cases to relevant authorities, in line with their civic responsibility and duty of care.

The programme recorded active participation from corps members, who expressed appreciation for the timely and informative session.

The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to continuous grassroots sensitization, urging citizens to uphold the principle of duty of care by protecting one another, promoting safe migration, and safeguarding the rights and dignity of every child in society.

*NOA Lagos Receives South-West Zonal Director on Familiarization Visit*

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lagos State Directorate, received the South-West Zonal Director, Mr. Kehinde Ogunkuade, on a familiarization visit to engage with staff and assess operations within the Directorate.

The meeting, held at the NOA Lagos State Headquarters in Lagos State on Wednesday 29th April, 2026, commenced with the rendition of the National Anthem. Thereafter, the State Director, Mustafa Adedeji Tukur, warmly welcomed the Zonal Director and introduced the Deputy Directors to the Zonal Director.

Dr. Tukur, in his welcome address, presented the Lagos State workforce of about 144 staff to the Zonal Director, describing them as dedicated and committed officers driving the Agency’s mandate at the grassroots. He highlighted that Lagos State comprises 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), bringing the total to 57 administrative units.

He explained that NOA has strategically deployed Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs) and other staff across these 57 LGAs and LCDAs to ensure continuous engagement with citizens at the grassroots level. He further noted the efforts made by the Directorate in securing office accommodations for NOA staff in all LGAs and LCDAs to enhance operational efficiency and visibility.

Speaking on the formation and structure of the Lagos State Directorate, the State Director emphasized the commitment of the Agency to grassroots sensitization and outlined some of the challenges faced. He identified office accommodation and funding, among other operational constraints, as key issues affecting the smooth implementation of programmes, while noting ongoing efforts with the Lagos State Government to secure a permanent Secretariat at Alausa, Ikeja.

In his remarks, the Zonal Director, Mr. Ogunkuade, expressed appreciation to the Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Isa-Onilu, for the opportunity to serve, commending his leadership for placing the Agency on a stronger national spotlight. He noted that the Director-General continues to work tirelessly to reposition the Agency for improved visibility and proper funding.

Mr. Ogunkuade stated that his visit was to familiarize himself with staff and operations within the Lagos Directorate, adding that his assignment at the South-West Zone is to strengthen the organizational framework of the Agency.

He further emphasized the importance of duty of care and maintaining the right attitude to work, noting that every staff member has a responsibility not only to the Agency but also to one another and the Nigerian public. According to him, officers must demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and integrity in all assignments, while ensuring that their conduct reflects the core values of the Agency.

He encouraged staff to be disciplined, punctual, and committed, stressing that attitude determines productivity and public perception. He also urged officers to support one another, work in synergy, and uphold mutual respect in the workplace, describing these as essential ingredients for institutional growth.

The Zonal Director then advised staff to embrace innovation and stay updated with trends in the digital communication space to enhance effective service delivery. He reiterated that as public servants, they must always project a positive image of the Agency and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The meeting featured an interactive session where staff raised issues relating to welfare, allowances, housing loans, pension concerns, and access to payslips. The Zonal Director acknowledged these concerns and assured staff that necessary steps are being taken at appropriate levels to address them.

Staff of the Lagos State Directorate also appreciated Mr. Ogunkuade for his fatherly role during his tenure as Director of Human Resource Management at the National Headquarter, Abuja, as well as his selfless service throughout his career in the Agency.

The Deputy Directors present at the meeting and their portfolios included Mrs Aderoju Echioda (Accounts and Finance/Admin), Mrs Ngozi Obi (Abuse, Rights and Narcotics), Mr Mohammed Abdullahi Toyin (Community Safety Awareness and Compliance), Ms Owuama Patricia (Planning Research and Strategy), Ms Zandra Eguavoen (Civic Values and Democracy Education), Mrs Dawodu Abodunrin (Community Outreach/Development), and Mrs Giwa (Environment, Climate and Energy). Also present were the Zonal Director's team: Mr Fasuyi Ayodeji Joseph, Principal Research & Monitoring Officer and Mr Adeleke Olorunwa Osilana , Chief Admin./Media & Communication Officer.

The meeting concluded with a general introduction of staff, reaffirmation of commitment to the Agency’s mandate, and the rendition of the National Pledge.
