*NOA Advocates Core Values Among Youths for National Development*
By Omotola Ajao
The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lagos State Directorate, has charged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to embrace the importance of building responsible and value-driven youths for National Development.
This call was made during a lecture held on Friday, 1st May 2026, at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos State, for the 2026 Batch A, Stream II corps members.
The State Director, NOA Lagos State Directorate, Dr. Mustafa Adedeji Tukur, who was represented by Mrs. Omotola Ajao, urged corp members to promote national unity, respect cultural diversity, and serve faithfully in their places of assignment. She also encouraged them to resist corruption, remain trustworthy, and carry out their duties diligently.
Mrs Ajao further emphasized that a responsible youth is one who is accountable, disciplined, and committed to doing what is right at all times, while a value-driven youth is guided by strong moral principles such as integrity, patriotism, and respect for others.
Key National Values highlighted include Patriotism, Integrity, Discipline, Self-Reliance, Religious Tolerance, and Social Justice, which she noted are essential for building a strong and united Nation.
Corp members were encouraged to be agents of positive change by promoting peace, fairness, and equality in their various communities. The importance of good character and conduct were also stressed, with the reminder that these often speak louder than academic qualifications.
The lecture concluded with a call to action, urging corp members to choose Integrity over Corruption, Discipline over Indiscipline, and Service over Selfishness. The National Orientation Agency also reaffirmed its commitment to partnering NYSC in shaping responsible and value-driven citizens.
Also speaking, Mr. Paul Ibe, NOA-CDS Coordinator in Lagos State, invited interested corp members to join the NOA-CDS group, noting that it focuses on civic education, environmental awareness, health outreach, and community development initiatives. He reminded them that the service year provides an opportunity to make meaningful and lasting contributions to society.
