APCCM is a national support Group working toward the success of the Party and to ensure all residents in Lagos see the reason to support our great party
Dear Lagosians,
I have watched with shock how what began as a peaceful protest has degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of our society. Lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella of these protests to unleash mayhem on our State.
As a government that is alive to its responsibility and has shown a commitment to the movement , we will not watch and allow anarchy in our dear state.
I, therefore, hereby impose a 24-hour curfew on all parts of the State as from 4pm today, 20th October,2020.Nobody, except essential service providers and first responders must be found on the streets.
Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu
Governor, Lagos State
VICE PRESIDENT YEMI OSINBAJO SPEAKS
Dear Nigerians,
I know that many of you are angry, and understandably so. We could’ve moved faster and for this we are sorry.
I fully understand how many young people feel. Many feel that we have been too silent and have simply not done enough.
These feelings of frustration are justified.
There are far too many people who have been brutalised at the hands of the police and this is unacceptable. We must take responsibility for protecting young people, even sometimes from those who are paid to protect them.
Over the past week, we have been following the protests, and I have had a number of discussions with key people in the administration that you deserve to be informed about. Transparency, after all, is a key tenet of government.
Several meetings have been held with: the Senate President Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, Speaker of the House Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, the IG of the Nigerian Police (IGP), the Executive Secretary of National Human Rights Commision Nigeria, and governors.
We understand that you want to see action from us and I’m here to tell you that work is ongoing. I chaired a meeting of 36 state governors and the Minister of the FCT (NEC), where we resolved to set up judicial panels of inquiry so we can see justice served, and fast.
The reason being that only state governors, by law, can set up judicial inquiries in their states. The hearings will be public.
With Mr. President’s approval, SARS has been completely disestablished, and none of its former members will feature in any police tactical units.
I am sending my deepest condolences to the families of Jimoh Isiaq, and all those who have lost their lives at the hands of wayward police officers. To those injured, I wish a full and speedy recovery.
We have proposed that each state government sets up a Victims’ Support Fund, which the Nigerian Government will support. This is the least that we can do to compensate for the injustice suffered at the hands of errant officers.
We also understand that the issues that you’re raising are bigger than just SARS. They’re deep and systemic and we’re undertaking comprehensive measures that will revamp the police by addressing issues of welfare, service conditions and training.
On Monday, Mr. President also reiterated his commitment to these extensive police reforms.
We will continue to update and engage with you all on these action steps and the ones to come, in the spirit of transparency, so that you can hold us accountable. We are, after all, here to serve you and we owe you a duty to win back your trust.
Keep safe. God bless you.

*SANWO-OLU GETS HEROIC WELCOME IN LAGOS AFTER LEADING APC TO VICTORY IN ONDO ELECTION*
*•Governor Praises Endsars Protesters, Says Campaign Has Achieved Results*
It was heroic welcome for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who returned to Lagos State on Sunday, after supervising the electoral victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
The aircraft that brought the Governor back to Lagos touched ground at 6:08pm, amid rousing reception by members of the State Executive Council, his political associates and scores of party supporters who thronged the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport to receive him.
Sanwo-Olu is the chairman of the APC Campaign Council constituted by the party’s national leadership to lead the second term campaign of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
APC won the governorship contest with 292,830 votes, defeating the closest rival - Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which garnered 195,780 votes.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Sanwo-Olu said the success of his task in Ondo State was a promise fulfilled to his political party. He pointed out that the APC candidate in the election deserved the victory, having achieved most of his campaign promises in the first term.
He said: “I am personally excited, as chairman of the APC Campaign Council in the Ondo State election, that the candidate who emerged victorious in the election is our candidate. Having visited the State prior to the electioneering, I can confirm that Arakunrin Akeredolu has really worked and he is currently working for the people to deserve this victory.
“People call Akeredolu a talk-and-do Governor, meaning whatever he promises he delivers, whether in terms of infrastructure or general development in Ondo State. Based on his track record in governance, our candidate was an easier product to sell in the election. So, we fought a good fight in the exercise. At the end the day, Ondo people spoke through the ballot and they have spoken well.”
Sanwo-Olu said the outcome of the election reflected the will of the Ondo people, whom he described as the sole winner that emerged from the election. He said APC went into the contest with intention to unite and not to divide the people of the State, saying the party saw the outcome as “no victor, no vanquished”.
The Lagos Governor praised President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the needed leadership and creating an enabling environment for the people to choose their leaders without violence. Despite pockets of skirmishes that tainted the process, Sanwo-Olu described the exercise as “largely free, fair and credible”.
He also commended the national leadership of APC and Governors who supported the effort to return Akeredolu for the second term, saying all members of the campaign council deserved credit for the success.
“The victory in Ondo State is a demonstration that people still believe in the leadership being provided by our party across the country. We accept the outcome of the election with humility. This victory should not be solely attributed to one person, but to the entire members of the APC campaign team, which I was chosen to be the leader,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, once again, spoke on the EndSARS campaign, after he tweeted, about a week ago, to condemn human rights abuses by Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives which led to the widespread EndSARS campaign.
The Governor particularly praised the good conduct of the youth who participated in the public demonstration in Lagos, describing them as “heroes of freedom”.
Sanwo-Olu said he identified with the EndSARS campaign, as it touched the essence of democratic freedom. He said citizens must never be denied the rights to express their grievances whenever they were not satisfied with the operation of any agency of the Government.
The eventual dissolution of the SARS outfit by Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Governor said, is an indication that the voice of the protesters had been heard by the authorities. He urged the youth to continue to engage the leadership on the reforms required to make the police force work better.
He said: “I commend all our youths that turned out for the protests in Lagos. While I was on the assignment in Ondo, I monitored all the activities of the protesters and they were peaceful in their conduct. This is what we want and how we want our people to conduct themselves. From all over the city, there have been calls for the end of SARS and their voice has been heard very well.
Sanwo-Olu hailed security operatives in Lagos for respecting the rights of the demonstrators to express their grievances, saying he was elated that the issues raised by the protesters had been addressed by the police authorities in the interest of freedom, democracy and justice.

SPEAKER OBASA NOT DETAINED BY EFCC, SAHARA REPORTERS LIED AGAIN
Claims by some news media including Sahara Reporters that the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), may not be true as the latter has since returned home.
Obasa, chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, appeared before the EFCC on Thursday, October 8 as the agency continued with the investigation of some allegations against his office.
Obasa was at the EFCC office in honour of an invitation sent him by the agency.
"As a good citizen of Nigeria, a public officer and lawmaker, it was just justified that I honour an invitation by an agency trying to find out some answers relating to some questions.
"It is normal for the EFCC to invite whoever it deems should be invited. Honoring the invitation simply shows patriotism," Obasa said in a statement released by his media office.
The Speaker added that he had returned home and was never detained by the EFCC as was already being speculated.
Ex-Lagos commissioner returns to APC
Dr AbdulHakeem Abdullateef
Following a meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, has withdrawn his resignation letter from the party.
AbdulLateef hinged his resignation from the ruling party to the rejection of his movement by some “close leaders” he respected in the party.
The one-time lawmaker launched Iyepe 2023 on September 29, a movement to galvanise Lagosians to develop more interest in politics and curb voter’s apathy.
The party leaders urged him to return to the party because it could not afford to lose someone of his status.
Among those in attendance at a meeting in Ikeja GRA were Lagos APC chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun; leaders of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), including Prince Tajudeen Olusi; former Deputy Governor Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Prince Rabiu Oluwa, Alhaji Bushira Alebiosu and Omoba Murphy Adetoro.
The party stalwarts assured AbdulLateef of support to his move to galvanise more members for the party and making it stronger.
They also reconciled him and some party leaders that do not buy into his project, urging them to work in unison.
A source at the meeting said: “APC can’t afford to let go some of the big people that drive supports for the party.
“Hon Iyepe is a blessing to the party. He has done much to move the party forward. We cannot at this time allow him to just go like that. If there are issues, we resolve them. That is why the machinery of GAC was put in place to amicably resolve differences.”
Another source described AbdulLateef as a grass root mobiliser.
“His kind is rare in the party. He has for a long time combined party’s affiliation with religious propagation and has not been found wanting.
“He is a big fish in the party and commands large followers. We cannot allow such a person to leave our party due to issues we can sit on a round table to iron out. I commend the party leaders for taking a bold step to quickly bring him back to our fold,” he said.
AbdulLateef declined to talk after the meeting.
When pressed further, he simply said: “it is true that I have agreed to return to the party.”
