THE GREAT EXPECTATION – Christmas Reflection

The greatest tragedy of Christmas is not that Christ was born in a manger, it’s that He is still rejected in many hearts.

Christmas is more than lights, songs, and celebration.

It is first a revelation.

When heaven announced the birth of Jesus, it wasn’t a festival that was proclaimed, it was a Saviour.

Christmas reminds us that God stepped into humanity, not to decorate history, but to redeem lives.

Anna recognized Jesus because she was waiting for redemption.

Not everyone saw Him, but those who knew they needed salvation did.

That truth still stands today.

Jesus came for one clear reason: to seek and to save the lost.

The manger tells us He came.

The cross explains why He came.

The true expectation of Christmas is not just joy or celebration, it is forgiveness, restoration, and new life in Christ.

Celebration without redemption is empty.

This season, Jesus is still calling hearts.

He is not asking for tradition.

He is asking for a response.

If you are seeking forgiveness, peace with God, or a fresh beginning, Jesus is the Great Expectation you’ve been waiting for.

Christmas is complete only when Christ is received.

Salvation is available.

Grace is still speaking.

Every year, this gathering has remained a divine encounter zone. Souls are saved, hearts are set ablaze, lives are transformed, and destinies realigned. We’ve seen people catch fire for God and return with testimonies of purpose and power.

And just like always, it’s completely free. We don’t collect a dime from participants—and by God’s grace, we even feed everyone at least twice a day.

As preparations go into full gear, we invite those who feel led to support this kingdom assignment—either in cash or kind—to kindly send a DM.

Where is Penina?

In April 1992 a young girl about my age in the neighborhood by name Penina invited my younger brother and I to an Easter Retreat programme organized by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry.

We got our mum's permission to attend and Penina led us and others to Kayode Primary School, Onipanu.

I wouldn't have known how significant that meeting would be in my life.

We were moved into the children session of the meeting where we were taught God's Word and wonderful songs. I didn't really understood the new environment but I tried to adjust. Then there was a film show with title The Believers Heaven.The beauty of heaven captured my young soul.I saw how beautiful heaven is in contrast to hell as depicted.I saw people that had physical infirmities on earth received brand new bodies in heaven.I saw the steets of golds and beautiful mansions. I said to myself I'll love to be here when my life work is done here on earth. I did not waste any time to respond to the call for salvation.I went out and prayed the prayer of salvation, trusting Jesus for my redemption.

Today 18th of April,2025 marks 35 years on this journey of faith. It's not an easy road.There has been failures and bad days but I'm grateful for the saving grace of Jesus.He did what I could never do.He saved me knowing I can never be good enough to save myself.

As I look back I remember all the efforts it took for a young boy to find faith in Christ. I remember Peninah our neighbour on Majolate Street, Ilupeju,Mushin. I'm wondering if she knew who I would eventually become in Christ.I'm wondering how little, almost insignificant actions like inviting neighbours to crusades and Christian events can eventually add up as big things for the Kingdom.

I would have love to say a personal thank you to Peninah but I don't know where she is.I'm really hoping she is in Christ Jesus herself at this time.

May the Lord bless you Sis Penina for that invite that looked so insignificant.

To all the Peninas telling others about Jesus, you are the real soul winners.

Never give up on telling others about Jesus, who knows what evangelist or pastor that can come out of your efforts.

To preach this Jesus in all the ways we can and lead many souls to eternal glory is a task that must be done.
