LEADERS PAY TRIBUTE TO Pa EDWIN Clark

Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, was awash with emotion on Monday as national and regional leaders gathered to honor the life and legacy of Chief Edwin Clark, the revered Niger Delta elder statesman who passed away at 97. In attendance were former President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Douye Diri, former Governor Seriake Dickson, Labour Party's Peter Obi, and other prominent figures.

Dr. Jonathan praised Clark as "a rare leader who gave his life to the service of others" and urged the Ijaw people to remain united to preserve his legacy. Governor Diri commended Clark's dedication to fairness and justice, announcing plans to immortalize him by naming key landmarks after Clark and other distinguished Ijaw leaders.

Peter Obi described Clark as a national figure whose advocacy for the underprivileged resonated beyond ethnic and regional lines, calling him "a strong voice for equity and unity, and a true patriot." Other speakers, including Senator Seriake Dickson, PANDEF Chairman Dr. Godknows Igali, INC President Prof. Benjamin Okaba, and IYC President Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, hailed Clark as a fearless voice for the oppressed and a bridge-builder who championed the collective good.

The tribute celebrated Clark's towering legacy and reinforced the values he stood for: justice, unity, and the pursuit of a better nation.
