Good work deserves to be documented, shared and kept in the public conversation.
We sincerely appreciate The Guardian Nigeria and Development News Network (DNN) Radio for covering the 8th Cohort of our Empowered Mothers, Thriving Children Programme, implemented by the Special Needs Initiative For Growth in partnership with the Let Cerebral Palsy Kids Learn Foundation.
Both media platforms helped bring attention to an issue that matters deeply to us: the economic realities faced by mothers raising children with cerebral palsy and the need to create learning opportunities for their children.
This year, ten mothers received practical training in financial literacy, bookkeeping, customer engagement, business pitching and access to funding opportunities. At the same time, their children took part in STEM and robotics learning activities designed around their learning needs.
Media coverage matters because these stories should travel beyond the room where the programme happened. Families raising children with cerebral palsy deserve to have their experiences, efforts and potential represented in wider public conversations.
Thank you to The Guardian Nigeria and Development News Network Radio for helping us tell this story.
We also thank the Let Cerebral Palsy Kids Learn Foundation, our facilitators, volunteers, mothers, children and everyone who made Cohort 8 possible.
More to come -
The work continues.
