The Story of Cain and Abel

From the Bible (Genesis 4:1-16)

A long time ago, Adam and Eve had two sons. Their first son was named Cain, and their second son was named Abel. Cain grew up to be a farmer who worked hard in the fields, planting seeds and growing crops. Abel became a shepherd who took care of sheep.

One day, Cain and Abel decided to give gifts to God to show their love and thankfulness. Cain brought some fruits and vegetables from his farm. Abel brought the best lamb from his flock. God looked at both gifts, and He was very happy with Abel’s gift because Abel gave the best he had with a cheerful heart. But God wasn’t pleased with Cain’s gift because Cain didn’t give it with love.

When Cain saw this, he became very angry and upset. God spoke to Cain and said, “Why are you angry? If you do what is right, won’t you be accepted? But be careful—sin is like a wild animal, ready to attack you. You must control it.”

But Cain didn’t listen to God. Instead, he let anger grow in his heart. One day, he asked Abel to come with him to the field. While they were there, Cain did something very wrong—he attacked Abel and killed him.

Later, God spoke to Cain. “Where is your brother Abel?” He asked.

Cain answered, “I don’t know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”

But God knew what Cain had done. He said, “Cain, what have you done? Your brother’s blood is crying out to Me from the ground!”

God punished Cain for what he did. He told Cain that farming would now be very hard for him and that he would have to wander the earth, never having a home.

Cain was scared and said, “My punishment is too much! What if someone finds me and kills me?”

God showed mercy to Cain and said, “No one will harm you. I will put a mark on you to protect you. If anyone hurts you, they will be punished seven times worse.”

What We Can Learn from This Story:
Always Give Your Best to God: Abel gave his best, and God was pleased. We should always try to give God our best in everything we do.

Control Your Anger: Cain let his anger take over, and it led to something terrible. We should listen to God and ask Him for help when we feel upset.
God Is Loving but Fair: Even when we make mistakes, God cares about us and wants us to do what is right.

On the second day, God looked at the emptiness and decided to create a big, beautiful sky. He made the sky high and wide, stretching like a soft, endless blanket above the earth. Now there was a place for clouds to dance and stars to sparkle at night. God looked at His creation and saw that it was good.

On the third day, God said, “Let the waters gather together so that dry land can appear!” And just like that, the waters rolled back, and the land rose up. God named the land “Earth” and the waters “Seas.” But He wasn’t done yet! God covered the land with beautiful green grass, colorful flowers, and towering trees. It was like painting a giant garden, and God was very pleased.

On the fourth day, God said, “Let there be lights in the sky to mark the days and nights.” And He made the sun to shine during the day, filling the world with warmth and light. Then He created the moon and stars to twinkle at night. The sky became a beautiful canvas, and God saw that it was good.

On the fifth day, God decided it was time to fill the sea and sky with living creatures. He spoke, and suddenly, the oceans were alive with fish, dolphins, and all kinds of colorful creatures swimming happily. Then, He made birds to soar through the sky—eagles, sparrows, and parrots, singing and fluttering from one tree to the next. God watched them fill the earth with life and joy, and He saw that it was good.

On the sixth day, God said, “Let there be animals on the earth!” And out of the ground came all kinds of animals—lions, giraffes, elephants, and even tiny ants. But God had one more special creation in mind. He made a man, Adam, and a woman, Eve, in His own image, giving them hearts full of love and joy. God looked at everything He had made and saw that it was very good.

On the seventh day, God rested, happy with all He had created. He blessed this day, making it a day of rest and peace.
And so, the world was created—a beautiful, colorful world filled with light, life, and love. Every tree, flower, ocean, star, and creature was crafted with care.
