Nigeria Wushu Kungfu Federation Engages Nigeria Police Force Ahead of 2026 Biennial Police Games
Abuja, Nigeria. November 3, 2025

The Secretary General of the Nigeria Wushu Kungfu Federation (NWKF), Mr. Adeoye Tosin, has paid a strategic visit to the Head of the Nigeria Police Force Wushu Kungfu Association, ACP Soji, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The meeting centred on strengthening collaboration between the Federation and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) towards the successful inclusion and organisation of Kungfu events at the forthcoming Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA), scheduled to take place from 7th to 14th February 2026.

During the discussions, both parties highlighted the growing interest in Kungfu within the Nigerian Police sporting community and explored pathways for the Federation to provide technical guidance, officiating support, and athlete development programmes to ensure a standardised and competitive event during BIPOGA 2026.

In addition, the meeting explored the possibility of instituting a prestigious Inspector General of Police (IGP) Wushu Kungfu Championship, aimed at promoting discipline, fitness, and self-defence skills among police officers while fostering deeper partnership between the Federation and the Force Sports Unit.

ACP Soji commended the Federation’s leadership for its proactive approach and expressed the NPF’s readiness to collaborate towards advancing Kungfu as one of the fast-growing combat sports within the Force.

In his remarks, Mr. Adeoye Tosin reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to supporting the Police Sports Unit in ensuring that Kungfu at BIPOGA 2026 meets international standards. He also noted that the Federation is open to technical partnerships that would expand the sport’s reach across security agencies and youth communities in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Wushu Kungfu Federation proudly announces the participation of its athlete representative, *Onyeali Blessing* , at the 5th Continental Athletes Forum organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and hosted in Windhoek, Namibia from April 5-7, 2025.

Onyeali Blessing was officially invited by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Athletes Commission to represent Nigerian athletes at this high-level gathering, which featured the presence of leading sports administrators, continental stakeholders, and the newly elected President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The forum served as an important platform for dialogue on athlete development, welfare, and the inclusion of emerging sports in future Olympic Games. During the event, Onyeali seized a rare opportunity to interact directly with the IOC President. In a brief but impactful exchange, she advocated for the consideration of Wushu Kungfu as a sport in the 2028 Olympic Games. She highlighted the discipline’s cultural depth, athletic integrity, and increasing global popularity — particularly its growth and successes in Nigeria and across Africa.

Her proposal was warmly received, with the IOC President acknowledging the significance of diversifying the Olympic program and encouraging continued dialogue around the integration of traditional and emerging sports.

Beyond her advocacy work, Onyeali Blessing connected with other influential figures in international sports, further promoting Nigeria’s presence on the global Wushu Kungfu map and strengthening relationships that could enhance support for the sport’s future.

KUNGFU FEDERATION SEC. GENERAL VISITED DR OSETOBA, PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR EKITI SPORT DEVELOPMENT

Ekiti State Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr. Osetoba while hosting Secretary General Kungfu Federation has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing sports, emphasizing Gov. Biodun Oyebanji’s dedication to youth empowerment and job creation through sports.

During a visit by Tosin Samuel, secretary-general of the Kung Fu Federation of Nigeria, Osetoba outlined the state’s long-term vision for sports development. She highlighted investments in infrastructure, athlete training, and grassroots programs aimed at positioning Ekiti as a contender in national and international competitions.

Samuel, an indigene of Otun Ekiti, commended the state’s progress and praised its focus on athlete welfare and facility upgrades. He pledged to support local athletes in gaining national and international exposure, emphasizing the importance of strong athlete-management relationships.

Osetoba noted the government’s continued investment in key sports facilities, including the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium and the Indoor Sports Hall. She said these projects would improve Ekiti’s chances of hosting major sporting events while boosting the local economy through sports tourism and talent development.

Samuel expressing confidence that with sustained support, Ekiti athletes would continue to excel. He assured that in his role as secretary-general, he would advocate for qualified Ekiti athletes to represent Nigeria in international competitions.

Osetoba reaffirmed the government’s commitment to producing top-performing athletes and expressed optimism that Ekiti would secure multiple medals—especially gold—at the upcoming National Sports Festival. She said her office, with the governor’s backing, remains focused on youth employment and empowerment through sports.
