In a swift response and his people centric manner, the executive chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu has paid a sympathy and solidarity visit to the scene and victims of a gas explosion incident which rocked Adeleye Street of the area.⁣

Represented by a powerful delegation, led by the Secretary to the Local Government Council (SLG) Hon.Ibrahim Olanrewaju Ahmed and the Councillor representing Ward "B" Hon. Saheed Ajetumobi, the Apapa Iganmu LCDA helmsman prayed for the quick recovery of the victims and assured residents of continued support.⁣

A quiet day in Adeleye Street, Sari, was disrupted on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, following a devastating gas explosion that left five individuals injured and raised fresh concerns about safety practices among residents and small-scale gas dispense vendors.⁣
⁣
According to reports, the incident occurred when two vendors attempted to transfer gas contents into a smaller cylinder. The process reportedly triggered a sudden explosion, causing panic and chaos in the area.⁣
⁣
Among the injured were the two vendors, alongside a teacher, a student from a nearby school, who were passerby, that happened to be at the scene at the time.⁣
⁣
All victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical attention at both government and private hospitals.⁣
⁣
This is a critical Wake-Up Call For Safety Measures: adherence to regulations and strict enforcement. ⁣
The government can no longer bear the fact that one wants to feed his family to the detriment of other families. ⁣
⁣
This incident underscores the urgent need for stricter adherence to safety protocols, especially in the handling of highly flammable substances like cooking gas. ⁣

Improper transfer of gas between cylinders, a practice common in informal settings, poses significant risks, including leaks, explosions, and widespread damage.⁣

Earlier yesterday, the Executive Chairman of Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, has reaffirmed that education remains the bedrock of societal development. He made this assertion on Friday at the Council Secretariat during a landmark presentation of 700 double-seater desks to schools across the constituency by the Member of the House of Representatives for Apapa Federal Constituency, Hon. Samuel Adesola Adedayo.⁣

The initiative, which aligns with the "Renewed Hope" agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aims to enhance the learning environment for students and provide critical infrastructure to public schools.⁣

Fostering a Conducive Learning Environment⁣
Hon. Jimoh, who personally coordinated the distribution, emphasized that his administration remains steadfast in supporting programs that promote academic excellence. While commending Hon. Adedayo for his consistent contributions to the constituency, the Chairman noted that these efforts extend beyond the classroom.⁣

In his keynote address, Hon. Samuel Adedayo described the education of the youth as his "topmost priority," citing his own academic journey as the catalyst for his professional success. He presented a comprehensive scorecard of his educational interventions for the Apapa Federal Constituency, which include:⁣

-Examination Support: Purchase of 250 JAMB forms complemented by free tutorial classes for the 2026/2027 academic session.⁣

‎Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Lagos – Saturday, April 11, 2026The Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) under the dynamic leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, today successfully hosted the highly anticipated Season 2 of the Olugbani Free Medical Outreach in partnership with the Lagos State University College of Medicine Union (LASUCOM Union).⁣

‎The programme, which commenced at 10:00 AM at Baale Bus Stop along Iganmu Road, witnessed an overwhelming turnout of over 700 residents from Apapa-Iganmu and neighbouring communities.⁣
‎⁣
‎Beneficiaries received free professional medical services including:⁣
‎Hypertension screening ⁣
‎Malaria screening ⁣
‎Diabetes screening ⁣
‎Obesity screening ⁣
‎Hepatitis screening ⁣
‎Dental consultations⁣

‎All participants were provided with free medications where necessary. Special and critical cases were promptly identified, documented, and referred to appropriate higher facilities for further management⁣

‎In his remarks after the exercise, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, expressed profound amazement at the massive turnout. He reiterated that this Season 2 is “still just the beginning,” emphasizing that the wellbeing of the people of Apapa-Iganmu remains his topmost priority.⁣
‎The Chairman further disclosed that the establishment of a General Hospital or a standard medical care facility within the LCDA will be one of the major legacies of his administration.⁣
