Al-Imam Muhammad ibn Shihab az-Zuhri (d. 124 AH) was a leading scholar of the Tabi‘un and a pioneer in writing down Hadith.
Based in Madinah, he learned from senior Companions and taught many great scholars, including Imam Malik ibn Anas.
His efforts helped preserve the Sunnah for later generations.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah ( may Allah be pleased with him) : The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“When one of you is fasting, let him not engage in obscene talk or raise his voice. If someone insults him or tries to fight him, let him say: ‘I am fasting.’ By Him in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, the breath of the fasting person is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The fasting person has two joys: the joy of breaking his fast and the joy of...” He will be rewarded for his fasting, and when he meets his Lord, he will be happy with his fasting.
