Who is Tayo Akinmade Ayinde?

Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, widely known as Tayo Ayinde or by his nickname "*The Buffalo*," is a prominent Nigerian administrator, accountant, and security expert who has left an indelible mark on public service and civic leadership in Lagos State. Born on August 24, 1964, in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, Ayinde hails from the Ikorodu area and embodies a blend of discipline, strategic acumen, and quiet strength that has defined his career and inspired initiatives aimed at fostering civic clarity and sustainable development. As of 2026, at the age of 61, he continues to serve as a key figure in Lagos governance, while his influence extends into philanthropic and educational realms.

*Early Life and Education*
Ayinde's roots are firmly planted in Lagos, where he grew up in a community that shaped his values of service and integrity. He attended St. Peters' Anglican Primary School in Alausa, Ikeja, before proceeding to Ogudu Grammar School for his secondary education. Pursuing higher studies, he earned a degree in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic in Anambra State. He later obtained a Master's degree (MBA) in Financial Management from Lagos State University,further honing his expertise in administration and finance. Ayinde also attended programs at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, enhancing his global perspective on leadership and governance. A devout Christian, his personal life reflects a commitment to ethical principles that permeate his professional endeavors.

*Professional Career and Public Service*
Ayinde's career trajectory has been marked by a steady rise in public administration, culminating in his appointment as Chief of Staff to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu in 2019 a role he was reappointed to in 2023. Often described as the "*bulwark*" of the Lagos government, he plays a pivotal role in coordinating state affairs, ensuring efficient governance, and supporting initiatives under the Greater Lagos Agenda. His background in accounting and security has equipped him to handle complex administrative from financial oversight to strategic planning In November 2025, Ayinde was appointed as the Renewed Hope Ambassador for Lagos State, aligning his efforts with Nigeria's national Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This role involves promoting empowerment through grants, skills training, and community support, including programs like the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which provides economic inclusion for market women, farmers, and artisans. Philanthropy and Empowerment Efforts
Beyond his official duties, Ayinde is Renowned for his philanthropic work, focusing on widows, youths, and vulnerable communities. He has been a longstanding member of the Education Support Group in Lagos, contributing to educational initiatives that enhance civic and institutional literacy.
