HON. OLUWAFEMI ODUNAYO DANIEL MARKS WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY, CHARGES ITIRE–IKATE RESIDENTS ON A CLEAN AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
The Executive Chairman of Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel, has joined millions of people across the globe in commemorating the 2026 World Environment Day, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and sustainability for present and future generations.
In his message to residents, Hon. Odunayo Daniel emphasized that a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment remains essential to public well-being, economic growth, and community development. He urged residents of Itire–Ikate LCDA to take personal responsibility for maintaining a cleaner environment by properly disposing of waste, keeping their surroundings clean, planting trees, and embracing environmentally friendly practices in their daily activities.
According to the Chairman, “Our collective actions today will determine the quality of life we bequeath to future generations. Environmental protection cannot be left to government alone; it requires the active participation and cooperation of every citizen.”
He further reaffirmed that his administration remains fully committed to promoting environmental sustainability through improved sanitation initiatives, efficient waste management systems, continuous environmental awareness campaigns, and community-driven programmes aimed at enhancing the quality of life across the LCDA.
Hon. Odunayo Daniel also called on residents and stakeholders to use the occasion of World Environment Day as an opportunity to renew their commitment towards building a greener, cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Itire–Ikate LCDA.
He concluded by saying: “Let us act now, act together, and act responsibly for the sake of our environment and the generations yet unborn. Happy World Environment Day to all residents of Itire–Ikate LCDA.”

CLEARING OF DRAINAGES COMMENCES AT AKANJI STREET, IKATE COMMUNITY, AND OREDOLA STREET, ITIRE COMMUNITY
The Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel, has commenced the clearing of drainage channels at Akanji Street in Ikate Community and Oredola Street in Itire Community.
This exercise forms part of the council administration’s continuous efforts to ensure a cleaner, healthier, and flood-free environment across communities within the LCDA, especially during the rainy season.
Residents and business owners within the affected areas are encouraged to cooperate with the environmental officers and support the ongoing sanitation efforts by ensuring proper waste disposal and maintaining clean surroundings.
The council remains committed to promoting environmental sustainability, safeguarding public health, and improving the overall welfare of residents across Itire–Ikate LCDA.

The Executive Chairman of Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area, Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo, in partnership with Women of Vision and Progress, successfully organized the 2026 Children’s Day Celebration themed: “Catch Them Young: Promoting Financial Literacy and Educational Excellence.”
Hon. Odunayo warmly welcomed students and pupils to what he described as an epoch-making and groundbreaking event in the history of Itire–Ikate LCDA. He also offered heartfelt prayers for students and teachers currently in captivity across the country, praying for their safe and speedy return to their families and communities in good health and safety.
The Chairman reiterated the importance of education, emphasizing that every child deserves access to quality education and a conducive learning environment. He noted that his administration remains committed to providing students and pupils across the LCDA with essential educational materials and support systems capable of promoting effective learning and academic excellence.
Speaking further, Hon. Odunayo stressed that investing in children remains one of the greatest responsibilities of purposeful leadership, adding that the future of every society depends largely on how well its young people are nurtured, educated, and empowered today.
The First Lady of Itire–Ikate LCDA, Mrs. Vivian Odunayo, also played a prominent role during the celebration, demonstrating her passion and unwavering commitment towards the welfare, growth, and development of children within the council area. She encouraged the students and pupils to remain focused on their education, embrace discipline, and continue to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.
Mrs. Vivian Odunayo further joined the Executive Chairman in presenting cheques to the winners of the inaugural Miss Itire–Ikate beauty pageant competition, where the second runner-up received ₦200,000, the first runner-up received ₦300,000, while the winner was awarded ₦500,000. Her warm interaction with the children and active participation throughout the event added colour, inspiration, and excitement to the celebration.
Also present at the event were partners from Women of Vision and Progress, Ms. Olamide Maja and Mrs. Abiola Maja, who educated students and pupils on financial literacy and the importance of cultivating a healthy savings culture from an early age.
Ms. Olamide Maja explained that the initiative is an extension of several impactful programmes already being implemented by the organization. She further disclosed that the NGO facilitated the opening of bank accounts for 200 students and pupils, each with an opening balance of ₦5,000. The accounts are domiciled with Capital-Metriq Microfinance Bank, while ATM cards were presented to the beneficiaries during the event.
The colourful celebration also featured the presentation of educational materials to students and pupils across Itire–Ikate LCDA as part of ongoing efforts aimed at encouraging academic excellence and supporting quality education within the community.

Immediate Past Executive Chairman Receives Warm Reception from Staff and Attendees
The Executive Chairman of Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel, today presided over the Monthly Staff Forum Meeting held at the Council Secretariat, where he charged members of staff to remain committed to efficiency, productivity, professionalism, and effective service delivery in the discharge of their duties.
Addressing the workforce, the Council Chairman emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, teamwork, and innovation in driving the continued growth and development of the council area. He commended members of staff for their resilience and invaluable contributions to the smooth administration of the council and urged them to sustain the spirit of excellence and commitment to public service.
In a remarkable demonstration of leadership and concern for staff welfare, Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel empowered both pensionable and non-pensionable staff members with sewing machines and mechanized grinding machines to help cushion the effects of the current economic challenges and improve their means of livelihood.
Speaking on behalf of the workforce, the Council Manager, Mrs. Esther Ajose, alongside the Council Treasurer, Mr. Alani Amusa, commended the Chairman's generosity and commitment to staff welfare. They particularly appreciated the payment of ₦60,000 and ₦40,000 to pensionable and non-pensionable staff members, respectively, as part of the Council's support package for workers during the Salah celebration.

The Chairman of Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area, Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel, has congratulated his friend and colleague, Hon. Adebayo Olasoju, Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, on his conferment as the Bobaselu of Isolo by Oba Isa Abiodun Faronbi-Sekoni, the Osolo of Isolo kingdom on the occasion of his first anniversary on the throne. The royal honour recognizes Hon. Olasoju’s outstanding leadership, integrity, and sustained commitment to grassroots development.
Hon. Daniel commended the Chairman of Isolo for his astuteness, vision, and dedication to the continuous transformation of Isolo LCDA. Under his administration, Isolo has witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure, social services, and community engagement, setting a standard for progressive governance at the local government level.
The conferment as Bobaselu of Isolo reflects the confidence and trust reposed in Hon. Olasoju by the traditional institution and the people of Isolo. The title merges traditional responsibility with modern leadership, positioning him to further advance cultural heritage while driving innovative initiatives for community growth.
