As part of the learning process to improve the supply chain management system in the state, the Executive Secretary of the agency and her team paid a two-day working visit to KADHSMA and the FCT Pharma-grade Warehouse to understudy the Pharma-grade Warehouse. The experience gained during the visit will further help the management of KSDMSMA to improve its warehouse management. She appreciated the Kogi State Government for giving her the opportunity to embark on the visit. She also appreciated the Honorable Commissioner, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, for his guidance. Additionally, she appreciated the warm reception given by the management of KADHSMA and FCT Central Medical Stores , especially the Executive Secretary of the agency and the GM FCT Medical stores. Together, the KOGI Drugs Management Agency will reach the promised land and be among the best in the country.

Public Reminder of NAFDAC’s Regulatory Directive on the Discontinued Registration of Multi-Dose Artemether/Lumefantrine Dry Powder for Oral Suspension

NAFDAC is reminding the public of the Regulatory Directive issued last year on the discontinued registration of Multi-Dose Anti-Malarial (Artemether/Lumefantrine) dry powder for Oral Suspension due to the instability of the reconstituted formulations, which results in the loss of efficacy of the suspension.

This Regulatory Directive applies to all locally manufactured and imported Multi-Dose Artemether/Lumefantrine dry powder for oral use.

NAFDAC no longer accepts New, Renewal, and Variation applications for all local and imported Multi-Dose Artemether/Lumefantrine dry powder for oral suspension. The manufacturers will need to produce either dispersible tablets or powder/granule packed in sachets for single doses.

Risk Statement
Stability studies have demonstrated that reconstituted anti-malarial suspensions are unstable, resulting in a loss of efficacy. When a medication loses its efficacy, it becomes less effective, which can have serious health consequences. This may lead to a worsening of the treated condition, an increased risk of complications, delays in treatment, and, in severe cases, could even result in death.

The Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency is committed to ensuring a steady supply of drugs and medical consumables to all public health facilities in the state. The state has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with pharmaceutical manufacturers, which is still being maintained, and it has been beneficial to the state.

While appreciating the state government and the pharmaceutical manufacturers, one of the manufacturing industry representatives, the North Central regional manager of Fidson PLC, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Executive Secretary. He was received warmly.

During discussions on how to improve the partnership, the agency's management presented a souvenir to them, highlighting the achievements of His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Ododo in two years of transformative leadership in the agency. The team from Fidson appreciated the gesture and promised to support the agency in ensuring a steady supply of drugs and other health products.

Kogi State has concluded the review of 2025 Quarter 4 activities under the HOPE-PHC initiative, with a stakeholders' meeting chaired by the Honourable coordinating Commissioner for Health.

The event brought together key stakeholders to assess progress and chart a way forward for implementation.

The successful convening of this pivotal stakeholders' meeting underscores Kogi State's unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare delivery through the HOPE PHC initiative.

These periodic assessments are poised to catalyse impactful interventions, ultimately enhancing healthcare outcomes for the populace. Kudos to the Honourable coordinating Commissioner for Health for providing the needed leadership and support as always.
