SKILLS FOR SELF-RELIANCE: AMG SOUTHERN BORNO YOUTH CAMPAIGN MOVEMENT GRADUATES 40 YOUTHS IN TAILORING, PARTNERS WITH SCISSORS TAILORING TRAINING ACADEMY

In a bold step toward youth empowerment and economic revitalization, the AMG Southern Borno Youth Campaign Movement has successfully graduated 40 young men and women from its Tailoring Skill Acquisition Programme, executed in strategic partnership with Scissors Tailoring Training Academy.

The intensive 6 months programme went beyond basic sewing. Trainees received hands on instruction in fashion illustration, pattern drafting, fabric selection, machine operation, garment finishing, and core business skills including pricing, branding, and customer service. The curriculum was deliberately designed to produce not just tailors, but complete fashion entrepreneurs ready for the market.

Addressing guests at the graduation ceremony, the State Coordinator of the Movement Hon. Suleiman Tanimu emphasized the philosophy behind the initiative. He said “Unemployment is defeated one skill at a time. Today, we are sending 40 new professionals into Southern Borno with the tools to feed their families, employ others, and restore dignity through labor. This is our contribution to building a productive, secure, and self reliant generation. It is the Gubio vision in action empowering people, not just promising them".

The event’s highlights included a runway exhibition of garments produced by the trainees, showcasing traditional Borno attire with modern design elements. Each of the 40 graduates received a Certificate of Competence from Scissors Tailoring Training Academy.

The Director of Scissors Tailoring Training Academy commended the graduates for their discipline and creativity, noting that, the quality of work displayed today proves that Southern Borno youths can compete anywhere when given opportunity and quality mentorship.

AMG Southern Borno Youth Campaign Movement reaffirmed that this graduation is only the first phase. The Movement remains committed to expanding vocational interventions across the nine LGAs of Southern Borno, in line with the human capital development agenda of APC Gubernatorial Flag Bearer, Engr. Mustapha Gubio.
