Many Weapons Used by Terrorists, Bandits Originally Belonged to Govt – Nuhu Ribadu
The National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has stated that a significant number of illicit weapons currently in circulation in Nigeria originally belonged to the Federal Government.
Ribadu stated this on Thursday, during the arms destruction exercise conducted by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja.
He explained that the weapons ended up in the hands of non-state actors due to corrupt elements within the security agencies.
The NSA condemned security personnel who facilitate the distribution of weapons to terrorists, bandits and other non-state actors.
He assured that the government would do everything possible to ensure the country’s security.

Hardship: Presidency Begs Nigerians for Understanding Amid Economic ReformsThe Presidency has appealed to Nigerians to show understanding amid the current economic reforms by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Delu Bulus-Yakubu, made the appeal on Thursday in an address to mark the 2024 International Poverty Eradication Day in Abuja.
The event was themed Ending Social and Institutional Maltreatment, Acting Together for Peaceful, Inclusive Society.
The Presidential aide explained that the current administration was working hard to address the economic situation in the country, hence the need for Nigerians to show understanding.

Your Policies Impoverishing Nigerians, Your Reforms Not Working, Bauchi Gov Mohammed Chides Tinubu Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the disturbing and precarious state of the nation.
Mohammed said the policies and reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government are inflicting untold hardship and unprecedented suffering on Nigerians.
The governor voiced his concerns at the launch of the Nigeria Development Update in Abuja on Thursday.
He implored the Tinubu government to review its current monetary and fiscal policies, stating that they are not working effectively.
"Mohammed admonished the government not to be dogmatic and rigid in its approach, noting that it was time to change course due to the growing hardship in the country.
He underscored the plight of ordinary Nigerians, warning that hunger and economic hardship have created a tense and erratic situation as politicians and public officeholders like him are facing the threat of being lynched by hunger and frustrated citizens.
