Celebrating Africa, Promoting Culture and Showcasing Osun at UNGA 81

At the just-concluded 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81) in New York, the First Lady of Osun State, Chief Mrs. Titilola Adeleke, joined other African women leaders and dignitaries in celebrating and promoting the richness, beauty and diversity of African culture.

The 81st UN General Assembly’s High-Level Week brought together leaders and representatives from across the world in New York from 22–28 September 2026.

The cultural showcase provided an opportunity to proudly display African identity, heritage, traditional fashion and cultural expressions on an international platform. For the First Lady, it was also an opportunity to demonstrate that African culture remains an important part of our identity and a powerful tool for connecting communities and promoting the continent to the world.

The participation further reinforced Osun State’s commitment to promoting its rich cultural heritage, with the First Lady expressing the intention to replicate a similar cultural presentation at the next Conference on the Status of Women (CSW).

With Osun State widely recognised for its deep-rooted Yoruba cultural heritage, the proposed initiative will provide another platform to showcase the State’s cultural richness while placing Osun women, culture and heritage on the global stage.

It is a celebration of who we are, where we come from and what Africa has to offer the world.

Osun to the world.
African culture to the world. 💚
Our heritage, our pride.
