Strengthening Disease Surveillance in Osun State
The Damien Foundation held a meeting with the Epidemiology Unit of the Osun State Ministry of Health on 26 August 2026 at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), to explore opportunities to bridge gaps and strengthen disease surveillance activities.
Key challenges discussed included transportation of samples and case-finding activities, capacity building of health officers, electronic and unified reporting systems, disease identification, and proper sample collection.
The Damien Foundation expressed its commitment to working with the State team to address these gaps, particularly challenges related to sample transportation and case finding. The meeting provided an important platform for collaboration towards a stronger and more responsive surveillance system in Osun State.
Together, we can strengthen surveillance, improve early detection, and protect the health of our communities.
